I live in Ollantaytambo and was there during the demonstrations. There was no violence, and no attacks on cars - just roadblocks denying passage. This guy exaggerates everything. As for the Inca Trail, I've done it 5 times, including three at the age of 77, carrying my own gear (porters carried his) and suffered no nightmares.
