what I really love about this series is how respectful it is of these old world civilizations, it always finds something to praise them for instead of calling them primitive or simple. like commenting on how pretty the thatch roofs must have looked. To us they might not have looked very special but to the people living at that time it must have been. really pulls you into what it might have been like living at this age, awesome stuff.

The buildings themselves even more impressive. There is no cement. Just stone. And those stones were carved without iron tools, so...stone on stone. And in an area that sees minor earthquakes often, it's amazing that they're still standing. If you look into the corners of some bldgs at Machu Picchu, it's even more marvelous, when you see how closely they fit together

You are confusing 'then' with 'than'. I think it's caused by how society tends to listen and watch videos rather than read books, that is the cause of the problem, it's a worldwide phenomena. Plus, the American accent doesn't help either, when pronouncing the word 'than', which does sound like 'then'. This should help you get it right: 'Then', used to explain something happening next: 'He then went to the market'. 'I get home, then I put the kettle on'. 'Than', (in your case), used when making a comparison: 'It cost more than I could afford'.. The comparison is 'this is more than that'... All the best in future.

The Inca say that the structures were already built before they got there. The Inca did not have the skills or knowledge to build the megalithic structures. There are often three different styles of stonework with the higher quality was on the bottom, a lesser quality in the middle and the Incan on the top is of very poor quality compared to the other two.

@@mandeyoung3495 I have been blessed enough to have travelled many places. Peru was my favorite place of all. Dont want too, plan it. Majestic beauty, nice people, people still living native America ways, the food is fabulous, ruins everywhere and prices are right. Everything but machu picchu was pretty cheap. I got rooms and day tours for under $30. $80 dollars a day for a single traveler doing lots of stuff and stuffing my face..lol Hint..flights are cheap and fast in Peru. Buses are super nice but unless your going up or down the coastal highway, they are slow in the mountains. Huscarean park and Trujillo in the north are not as popular as places in The South but should be. The one is a mountain park. The other is a city with a very nice square and many ruins from 2 cultures right outside town. Loved spain, Austria, Turkey and believe it or not southern Mexico. Maya mexico was super safe, lots of ruins, jungle and cloud forests, native Americans which were nice just not down by cancun. Merida, Palenque, San cristabol de la casas was a trip back in time.

I'm a historian by education not trade, and I've been saying for years that these videos are better than an undergraduate course and this is my favorite (well, counting the second Inca video). Excellent link. I also see you're the author, I've been interested in the subject for a few years, polygonal masonry has been used in several places worldwide. I'd take any more links you have on the topic whether you have to just give keywords to find them. I'm certainly no expert or even amateur on the topic which is why I ask.

I had a quick peek at the link and it argues sites such as Sacsayhuaman (which is built by Incas in 1400s) can only be built by Europeans in 17th century because according to the writer Incas didn't have the necessary technology or methods. I found it very insulting to this amazing civilization(whose recorded language we can't even decipher today) and I am not surprised that the article is not peer-reviewed.

@@abdulkadirerenozturk8497 By the time the Europeans conquered the South America, the Indians did not know either iron tools or wheel or potter’s wheel, did not have draft animals, did not own the technology of firing bricks, and possessed no written language. Where is the amazing civilization? The recorded language which "we can't even decipher today" represents primitive memory knots. Say, five bags of potatoes means 5 knots on a string named "potato" (say, colored in brown). What do you want to decipher here, Homer's Iliad? I am afraid that the arrived Europeans taught the Indians this simple counting method.
