I kinda went on a tangent with my other comment 😅 but what really resonated with me was making work that is obviously yours instead of generic stuff anyone could have done and that anyone could use. I've read and seen for myself that AI art can have a certain sameness in its look. To me, it's the quality of lighting, and everything is so smooth. Even when it replicates analogue mediums, there's a flatness. I didn't pick up on it until I read a Medium post on how these models don't really understand foreground, middle ground, and background yet. But humans are individuals with styles that are unique to them and that's what will continue to set us apart.

The Industrial Revolution, in general, has been very hard on humanity and the planet. The Luddites had a point. Just look at fashion today: it's fast and ultra fast. Clothing is made as cheaply as possible by people who are paid as little as possible and made in poor and sometimes even deadly conditions. All so you can buy a dress for $20 that will last a wash or two. It gets thrown out and dumped in developing nations, disrupting their own textile industries. Brands are cutting back on quality to save money. Now, people are pushing back because it's wasteful and unsustainable. Generative AI seems to be in a similar cycle of invention, proliferation, realization, and attempted reform, but it's all happening at once. It won't take nearly as long to transform the world as previous technologies. As you alluded to, we tend to adopt new technology quickly and deal with the ramifications later.

Woah, that’s crazy to see how far the problem has gone with the clothing industry. The Luddites would be shocked and probably kind of like “told you so”!
