This was the first really cold day this year…it was around 55F (and yes, I know most of you are much colder right now, but 2 days before it was 83F). Anyways, this was a scheduled tow that was setup the week prior, so not much I could do about that. Nothing too special about this tow other than we found a boat that looked like it had broke loose from the anchorage the night before…not sure anything will come of it, but I check it out on my way back from this tow to turtle beach.

AI-Generated Description:
Hey, fellow waterway enthusiasts! Join me on the first truly cold day of the year, braving a chilly 55°F (I know, I hear you - some of you are facing much colder temperatures right now, but just two days ago, it was a toasty 83°F!). Despite the sudden drop in temperature, duty calls, and this towboat operator is ready for action.
This tow wasn't a spur-of-the-moment decision; it was a scheduled job set up the week prior. You know, the usual routine of a towboat operator - always ready to lend a helping hand when duty calls. Today's journey may not seem out of the ordinary, but sometimes, the river has surprises in store for us.
On this particular adventure, we stumbled upon a boat that seemed to have broken loose from the anchorage the night before. The mystery of the open waters! I'm not sure what will come of it, but being the vigilant towboat operator that I am, I decided to check it out on my way back from this tow to Turtle Beach.
So, grab a warm beverage, get cozy, and come along for the ride as we navigate the waterways, face unexpected discoveries, and ensure the safety of our fellow boaters. Who knows what tales the river will tell us today? Stick around to find out!
Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit that notification bell to stay updated on more towboat adventures and river tales. Until next time, stay warm and float on! 🚤🌊 #TowboatLife #RiverAdventure #ColdDayOnTheWater

I was in LA a few years back and the weather gal talked about the bitter cold and maybe keep the kids home from school. It was going to be less than 50 degrees. The bitter cold!

I have learned so much by watching your videos, if and when the manure hits the prop, I'll have a much better understanding how towing and connecting lines makes the most sense. Thx!!

Thanks mate! I'm glad you were able to learn something from my videos! Hopefully you never need to be towed, but if you do, it never hurts to ask the captain what he wants you to do first!

Buy a motorcycle heated jacket liner. Plugs into a 12 volt socket. I have used mine on the boat and inside my snow suit working in Alaska. Its something you might not use often, but its sure nice to spend a cold day nice and toasty instead of cold and miserable. Been there, done that. Another is Wiggys leg blankets. They are arctic grade insulated waterproof chaps. Machine washable and Made in USA, too. They roll up very small.

I'm laughing about it being 55 down there and you're all bundled up, but I remember how cold that was when I was growing up in Bradenton.

@@CaptKenO True! But in my defense, I was 15 at the time so it's not like I really had a say in the matter. The last Christmas/New Years we were there, it snowed. No regrets, though.. I wouldn't have discovered alpine snowboarding or ice racing if I stayed down there. I will be back, though... my Florida Man instincts are pretty strong.
