Sometimes you learn by your mistakes.I live in Georgia USA and all you have to do is say we think it might snow and schools close and people go crazy. When I lived in a apartment and a condo. They would put a sign remington you to let your water run and leave your cabinets open. So the heat could get to your pipes. Now I live in a house, my husband puts a heater under a garbage can. A heater like yours. I never thought of the toilet. That was very smart of you.

Hi Adelina and Sofie, glad you have warmed up for awhile. It has been a cold one this year in the Yukon too. My heart goes out to all of the Texans and other southern folks who have had such a rude introduction to the extreme cold. Wish I could just bring them home for a warm meal and a dry bed. If you decide to invest in getting a separate plug installed for your car think about asking the electrician to give it a switch inside your tiny home so you can you can just turn it on before you go to bed. I suppose you could do it at the breaker but it is nice to have a switch by the door to turn on and off as needed. Stay warm and thanks for the video.

Years ago my infant daughter and I had to spend a winter in my grandparents cottage only a crawl space dirt floor living in New England when they predicted snow or heavy winds I would open the skirting and flip a switch which turned on three light bulbs hanging from the dirt basement ceiling that I would close the skirting back up my grandfather did this because the three light bulbs would create heat in the small space we also in extremely bad weather would leave the water trickling in the kitchen sink.... It's funny the tricks the old timers have! (Also tar paper which goes underneath your shingles on the roof usually he would use that by tacking it up in places the skirt was missing around the base of the cottage the tar paper is nice and thick and would block the wind and snow out.

My regular pipes were all fine, but my sewer outlet accordion hose froze solid during the recent cold snap. I was advised to let it thaw out naturally by a plumber, since our weather was forecasted to warm up. I live in the mountains of New Mexico and we can occasionally get in the minus Fahrenheit temperatures. I don’t live in a tiny house but a small one with water piping through the garage. I have dealt with a burst pipe situation when I wasn’t home for several days during a crazy freeze in November. Are your sewer lines completely underground? Or insulated? Having a trickle of water running in unprotected sewer lines will freeze and cause a bigger issue. As typically there is no standing water in the sewer lines. Here in Central NY living in a Manufactured Home a rule is not to trickle water in freezing cold. We run a laundry cycle during the middle of the night our machine is programmable and that way water is moving in the pipes throughout the night.

Excellent vlog, Adelina! My husband asked me to turn this up as soon as he heard your voice. I told him to subscribe-haha. Seriously he wondered why you wouldn’t leave the ceramic heater IN the bathroom. My Mum in her old house used to leave all sinks trickling btw. Never had an issue w/the toilet pipes freezing but if she were there this winter that may have been a 1st. So serious question: why not leave heater in bathroom & faucet trickling? Also did you leave the bathroom door open if it’s warmer in the test of the house. Glad you’re not going thru what all my friends in Texas are. Oh my! 💙💫🌀
