Don’t be fooled into buying hevi X. It’s 10 g/cc whereas bismuth is 9.6 or 9.7 g/cc depending on the alloy. The difference is marginal and bismuth is way cheaper.

I'd be very interested, and grateful, to hear your thoughts on ammunition. 2.75" vs 3" vs 3.5"; Bismuth vs Steel vs Tungsten; Shot Size; Blended shells (shot size and material). Then share your experience with particular shells i.e. Hevi-shot HeviX, Black Cloud, Boss. Your opinion of the best shell in 20 gauge and best shell in 12 gauge. Wrap it up with the chokes you use, and I mean modified or full or improved cylinder. If you have experience with custom choke tubes, I'd save that for another video. Thank you for all the production you have put out. I'm advancing my duck hunting journey, and your videos help tremendously.

I’ve been researching, testing, and otherwise working on a shotgunning series for the past 16 months. My plans are to release this multi-video series in the next few months (summer 22). It will cover all of your suggestions and more. Thanks Derek for the comment 👍🏻

I would like to try some of those expensive shells but just too cheap. For the last four years I have been shooting Royal Blue Steel 3-1/2” No. 3’s using a Beretta A-400. The Beretta has great recoil suppression and you can’t beat $119 per case. I am not a young guy and usually go through a little over a case of shells per season (about 25 hunts). No sore shoulder or or other negative effects.

Last year, we hunted mostly public land, but this year, we switch to private land. It was fun trying to figure out where the birds where at, and using onx hunt to figure out who owned the property so we could get permission to go hunt. We had way more success this year on private land, and plan on picking up a few more properties next year too. If I had to pick my favorite piece of new gear I picked up was for sure my new shotgun. I bought the Franchi Affinity 3.5 elite. Works great, fits right, and shoots like a dream!

Heavier metals will kill much quicker but I realistically can't see spending that much unless I'm going after a trophy bird. Blue box federal for this guy. Call me cheap but I don't cringe when I pull the trigger

I hunt 50% public and 50% private . Ducks on public and geese private just the way California is made up with our water being so hard to find and farm land is where the geese hang out .
@nickyoung6819

I’ve had the opposite experience. I’ve only used steel shot since I’ve started hunting. Bismuth and tungsten is way too expensive. I use federal blue box and I love it. Buying the expensive loads is not economical. Though I am cheap, it’s not worth it to me. I’ve really never had to finish cripples.

I have been using BlindSide for the last few years in 12g 3" #3's and have been very happy with the killing power. I use a aftermarket modified choke tube in combination to make it the best for me. I did a bunch of pattern testing to get it right...I suspect a guy could do that with any combination if they take the time and figure out what works for them. I'm a public lake hunter with private access to my main spot.

Mainly private but every once and a while will hit public. Working out of state and not being able to scout or have a group of guys that can scout during the week make public land more of a gamble. Easier to have private and not fight the crowds. Major respect for the public guys though its hard work, not much sleep, people sleeping in holes over night, guys sneaking past the gates to hold spots, and much more. Not much fun when you drive 4-5 hours to hunt and have to deal with that every time.

I strictly hunt public land. I live in the city with a passion for hunting, which results in competing for land. When someone beats me to my spot it’s a struggle to pull out a map and identify more public sloughs. OnX would be a dream.

I am primarily a public hunter. I did 1 hunt on privet land last year. I have been told I need the OnX. Worst part of public land hunting is finding back up places when someone beats you to the spot you want.
