This car deserved a great deal more information than was provided. First, it is a spring 1955 "Vista Vision " Commander with wrap around windshield placed in production in January, 1955. The "Bearcat V-8" was also a spring change which provided a stanard Commander V-8 of 259 cu in rated at 162 Hp or 182 optional. The car also sports the spring two tone paint style . The "Trunk Treat" brochure you showed is the fall introductory catalog, not the spring edition which accurately portrays the car featured in the video.

A lot of people don’t like the 55 because of the grill design. Although not as beautiful as the 53-4 and 56-61 I do love it. My grandpa had a 54 regal commander. I have a 58 silver hawk. Love Studebaker’s

It's odd, I googled engines for '55 Studebaker, the 259 and the 289 came up as did the bear cat V8. Oddly no c.i. was given for the bear cat. I believe the 289 was the sweepstakes V8.
@drakbar59572 ай бұрын
The challenge for Studebaker was to make a four door version of the pillared Starlight coupe. They did it, but the sleek roofline was raised to accommodate rear seating height. As a result, the car lost the sexy low slung European look. And by 1955, Studebaker acquiesced to dealer’s demands for more chrome. In spite of it all, this Studie is a real beauty and a lovingly maintained tribute to the South Bend automobile manufacturer.

Even though I am not a “pink guy”, this is really stylish and pristine. I definitely remember that there was a “pink car fad” in the mid-50’s, especially Chrysler Corporation cars. In my humble opinion, Studebaker built some great cars and trucks when they were solvent. Thank you Lou.

Beautiful car! The '55 Studebakers got a wrap-around windshield in the middle of the model year, which this one has. You can look closely at the body, and see the resemblance to the later Lark model. The 1953 chassis served Studebaker well. The 1966 cars still used it. This has to be one of the nicest (if not the nicest) 1955 Studebaker left.

Lou, this one was really a treat and those four doors pop out at you! It is nice to see something so original that it even had the big steering wheel! My grandfather and grandmother had two 1962 GM cars and I rode in their Cadillac and got to drive the Bel Air. I know this is a Studebaker but it reminds me of those 1962s. I wonder what the percentage of your viewers prefer four doors to two? Does the backseat fold down in this Studebaker?

I've seen very few of these in my time...I can't wait to learn about it! Beautiful color combination. Regal Commander! Engine sounded great! On the dash, there were three knobs to the left of the wheel. The top one was plugged. I wonder what it was for. I have a couple of questions. The car appears smaller than other cars by Ford/Chevy, etc. of that day. Also, it was priced more than Chevy/Ford/Plymouth of the same year. Did it seem higher quality? Thanks Lou, and guys.
