I went in 1985 to see them at the Spectrum in Philadelphia with REO Speedwagon. They were and remain the best live band I have ever seen. When they did Eye Of The Tiger the place went absolutely nuts. Jimi Jamison had a voice and an appeal the very few entertainers have. Seeing him live with Survivor remains a highlight in my life. I am and always will be a fan. RIP Jimi❤

This is for all the people criticizing this performance. Jimi had the BEST voice in Rock of that era. He sang beautifully until he passed away. He had to sing this night while he was sick, so don't criticize him not always hitting the high notes on this heavy touring schedule. Survivor came alive with Jimi because of his voice, his stage presence and his vocal talent and ability to sing these great Peterik/Sullivan songs. It's easy to criticize someone who can't defend themselves but he had a Heart of Gold and he was no addict. He had cardiovascular disease and there are many reasons why a small amount of meth can be found in your system. Don't criticize if you don't understand this. He was a decent human being, very humble and full of kindness. Let him Rest In Peace as he deserves to. Heaven is lucky and I wish there were visiting hours 💔💔💔💔💔

Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple/Rainbow): "I had seen Jimi in Survivor and was very impressed. I remember going down to Tennessee to meet him and I really liked him as a person. He then came up to try out with Deep Purple. We did one song, I think it was 'Going Down' and he was so good I immediately stopped playing and just said, 'You're in!' He said, 'Don't you want to do more songs?' I said, 'No, you are so damn good, I know that you are perfect for the job.' We went out and celebrated at a restaurant. I was full of ideas due to his melodic, soulful voice, and he could improvise much better than a lot of singers I knew so he had every aspect I was looking for in a singer. Very, very nice guy. Very humble. Unfortunately, two weeks later, we were told he couldn't join the band. We never found out why. I think it had something to do with the management. I was surprised and saddened by what happened, and it was a mystery to me what had gone down. It was a bad moment for me. I rated him as one of the top singers in the country."

For all of you saying Jimi was struggling, you probably would too if you did concert, after concert. Your voice doesn't have time to really recover but yet you carry on because that is what the fans want. They don't care if you were perfect. Just hearing the amazing music and songs live. Still pretty dam incredible and not auto-tuned. How many stars now days can claim that? You hear so many artists on a record these days after auto-tuned and then hear them live and they suck. At least Jimi and Survivor were real talents.

That''s not why he had trouble sadly . He was not .. a natural tenor . The notes were too high for his range . Other's like Steve Perry could pull it off live . Also Lou Gramm in his prime . Jim Peterik said during the recording of The Search is Over , he wanted to lower the key as Jimi was struggling . But Jimi insisted on it staying in the original key . If you watch the official live version on the survivor channel , the vocals are not the original from that concert , and have been overdubbed . Their is a reason they had to do that
