The 5 to 4 flip against Carl, @9:57, is when Christian lost the game. Had he stuck with the boys, albeit playing Carl's ego feeding the impression that he was in charge, he would have had a stronger alliance, the Davids would still have had the numbers and there is a high probability he would have won. Gabby was an emotional rollercoaster from episode 1, the chemistry between her and Christian was interesting (with many viewers taking to social media on the mainland entertaining ideas of them being a couple after the show) considering Christian had a partner which would come to light in the same episode Gabby plotted to send him home. Christian started strong and finished poorly and that was attributed to not playing by the same code as his former alliance. The season finished strong by having such a deserving winner.

its all about the cast, its not about wether its reurnees or non returnee or whatever, it will be a good season if there is a good cast. like ghost island was a all newbie season but it was a horrible season because of the cast. ex. laurel, angela, domenick, wendell horrible casting there.

frankie harlow Philippines is the exception to the rule. The only season with a few veterans and most new players that is widely considered a good survivor season. And even though Micronesia Caramoan and Blood vs Water have their strengths of the 8 spots at Final Tribal Council 7 of them went to returning players

Karel Zich yeah, I actually really like Caramoan. This is probably because it was the first season that I dove head first into (I watched Philippines, but wasn’t particularity dedicated). I can see why it might be considered boring, but I still enjoy it quite a bit.

Okay, I know this sounds crazy, but what if they did a season with the same exact people from 3 different seasons? There would be three tribes, six people from a past season on each tribe. We could choose 6 favorites from 3 different seasons and put them on an island together. I just think it would be very interesting, because on survivor we always see relationships form, but what if we saw them continue? Would allies team up again and risk being an already known threat? Would a castaway align with somebody who had blindsided them in a previous season, costing them a million bucks? It seems like it would be entertaining to watch.

Joel Ramirez That would be my only fear for the season, but maybe the castaways could be ones who had conflict in their own season. It’s not like people would be perfectly harmonious with those who cost them a chance at the million once before. Plus, a tribe swap would mix up relationships, and three tribes would mean there wouldn’t be a perfectly clear majority at the merge.

This season was amazing! Probably my favorite since Cagayan. I’d be happy with so much of the cast returning in later seasons - Alison, Kara, Carl, Lyrsa, Angelina, and especially Davie, Gabby, and Christian. I’m a bit hesitant for edge of extinction, but If it can be half as good as DvG then I’m happy

I absolutely LOVED this season. Every single episode was good, there were some insanely memorable cast members - looking at you, professor Hubicki - and there were some INCREDIBLE votes, blindsides, advantage plays, idol plays... There was good strategy and good social game, it was really all there. And even though I was /dying/ for Christian to win, I was still really happy with Nick being the winner, because he had such a great story all season. I really hope that we see a lot of these players return to play again, and I think a lot of them will. The producers would be idiots not to get at least Christian back.

this was a good season because every single one of this cast wanted to play and they all understood that its a game, so no one took anything personal when they were voted out. Survivor can also make an amazing cast for a s40 all-stars or HvV2

I never really saw her as a contender. She was the target of multiple votes due to her weakness, and only survived as long as she did because there were bigger threats than her around. Jessica was more likable and was tight with Carl and Bi, so Elizabeth worked to keep Lyrsa as an extra vote she could use. And Natalie was just such an issue that Angelina and Mike were desperate to flip. If she did make the merge, she would’ve been a goat, and I can’t see any of the goliaths giving her the time of day. That being said, I liked her on the show and she was a good character, just not a good player.

Antonio Alonso Christian got a MAJOR hero edit when in reality he played a very mixed game. Sure, he was targeted a lot and he was nerdy, and maybe that’s enough for Probst to say he’s a hero, but I think he’s better suited for a FvF, even though I’m sure he’ll be back as a hero.

frankie harlow Dan is 100% a villain. They gave him a pretty bad edit, showed him making fun of Angelina and other castaways on a few occasions, and made him seem really whiny and bratty after the merge. He mocked Angelina when she was upset that Christian was no longer the plan because she wasn’t getting her way, but then threw an absolute shit fit when Elizabeth mentioned his name. He was pretty condescending in a lot of confessionals and received a lot of negative commentary from other members.

2018 was the 1st year of me watching a season of both Survivor and Big Brother and I'm so glad I jumped in at the right time. BB20 and SDVG aka s37 have both been called the best seasons in a while for both shows and I feel all types of lucky.

So I'm an international viewer (Ireland representing), so I haven't had access to survivor, meaning that this was the second season is ever watched (first was HvV, because the cast sounded brilliant) and I have to say, that was a fantastic season to get into. It seemed to have bits of everything that made for entertaining television, with good editing, likable cast and the right amount of drama. I'll definitely be tuning in spring but good luck to that season. Also PS Christian, Gabby, Davie and John please come back your were amazing

DvG was really phenomenal. I used to watch Survivor every season when I was a kid, but I fell off the wagon when I started high school (Im 25 now, for reference). I picked it back up at Redemption Island, which, unsurprisingly I'm sure, didn't wow me and I stopped watching again. Then I saw parts of One World, but didn't care for it. Then I didn't see anything until HHH. I quite enjoyed HHH, despite the shitty f4 twist that screwed my fave castaway :)))) So I was excited for the next season, but I stopped watching GI halfway through because I got bored. I'm glad I decided to check out DvG because it was fantastic. It's the season I needed to really bring back my childhood love for Survivor.

Davie wasn't the best overall game strategist. It was nick or Mike. Nick is the one that came up with the split vote and controlled numerous votes with his vote such as Christian, Alison, lyrsa, etc. And mike would have won the game of he played like he did at the end all game. I like Davie but he wasn't the best stragic player. Nick was the leader of the David's for the majority.

It was freaking awesome!! Couldn't believe how interesting it was.. A key is when players dont have to stay with their alliance in every vote. To win you have to know when to switch and reform alliances, even if its every couple of weeks. And this cast did it almost perfectly!

If they're going to continue using fire-making as the Day 38 hurdle, I'd much rather go back to a Final 2. You have a final Immunity Challenge that day, and then the two people who lose make fire for the last spot. That way, both finalists earn their way in, nobody's getting dragged along as a goat, and there's still a one-vote gap between when idols are valid and when it goes to fire-making, meaning that you still have to fade one vote in order to get that chance.

i hate the final firemaking challenge but this season i came up with a justification for the firemaking that shut me up. when you get to the final four, you now have three oppurtunities to make it to the final tribal. The first chance is the immunity challenge, the second chance is convincing the winner to take you, and the third chance is the firemaking. So if you go home at 4, you had three chances to not go home.

Originally I really didn't like Angelina and couldn't wait for her to get voted out, but by the end of the final episode I really respected her game play and ended up liking her. It actually made me really just want to see the entire cast back to see how they would do it differently. Who would be on which team this time around? Who did we maybe misjudge? It's really hard to just pick 1 or 2 people to come back when the entire cast was so good.

This season started off at a high for me as in my draft I was rooting for Davie and Bi off the bat and with pat going in that way it made the season seem already unique but intense. (I wanna see pat in later seasons) this pre merge had to be one of the best just like BB20s was and the Natalia and Natalie vote offs were so entertaining. Once merge hit nobody can deny them first 2-3 vote offs were one of the best in survivor history and Dan Christian Davie angelina etc all made the moves fun to watch and lastly the finale yes Christian didn’t make it but he made the season have a unique character same with Natalie and others. Anyways the finale also was good and I agree with that 10/10 rating in my opinion one of the best seasons around which shows what the game survivor is meant for.

I can’t deny this season was incredible, but the biggest issue with the season? Not the cast, or gameplay, or anything like that. It’s the EDIT. Nick winning was predictable early on, and the lack of edits oftentimes for people like Kara, Alison and Alec made it clear a Goliath wasn’t winning as they weren’t deemed as important as the David’s. At times it just felt like the Christian and Nick show. Plus, instead of showing us gameplay, oftentimes they’d have votes and relationships come out of nowhere to create suspense and it made me feel as if I didn’t know what was really going on. For example, gabby flipping came out of nowhere instead of being analyzed, and nicks mom was constantly mentioned while Kara’s mom had also just died but they never showed her once talk about it. And dont even get me started on premerge Alison. It was still better edited than some seasons, but that’s really what could pushed it over the edge.

I agree with you about this season being amazing. I didn't hate anyone, and I think that when people started to get annoying, they were promptly eliminated. I didn't have to endure it for very long. No Phillips, no Hantzes, no Dan Foleys. Fantastic.
