see, these are the plays that actually mean something. You have some flashy move like the DudeBro Alliance in Caramoan, with Malcolm/Eddie/Reynold all ending up immune and those three voting out Phillip, or Kelley's idol play to get rid of Savage in Cambodia. The DudeBros thought they had cracked things, but the alliance didn't dissolve (cuz no one respected Phillip anyway), they wasted two idols (rather than using them to leverage votes and possibly keeping one or both of them for later), and two-thirds of them were immediately voted out in the next two tribals with the third losing later on down the line. Kelley managed to still get far, but she lost and her play to get rid of Savage did nothing to save her alliance partners.. Meanwhile, you have something like this. First of all, Parvati had played Russell enough to get him to give her his idol (a good move). She knew how to keep her mouth shut about her own idol (another good move). The Villains sussed out that the Heroes would try to fake them out by targeting someone on the outside of the core, Jerri in this case, and they, mostly Parvati, hatched their plan: give the idols to Jerri and Sandra, which has the benefits of not only protecting their numbers (nullifying Jerri's votes, obviously), but making it more likely that Jerri and Sandra stick with them. Plus, Parvati gets credit for the move, makes Russell look dumb, and gets inside his head, which is win-win-win (even if Parv didn't win in the end). THAT is how you play idols. Randomly tossing them out to null a vote doesn't impress me; making them work for you does. Also, Survivor needs to quit throwing so many damn idols, twists, and advantages into the game, lest we get another Cirie in Game Changers situation.

Heroes should have voted Russell here. No way Parvati plays either of her idols on him, because they assumed the heroes thought he was on their side. So the vote is 5-5 JT-Russell. I still say this isn't THAT dumb of a move... I mean, no one had seen Russell play Samoa... No one knew his idol finding prowess and great strategy. What they had seen was Parvati completely dominate and crush the men in Micronesia. It made sense that the heroes thought the same thing was happening. I mean maybe they should've listened to Sandra, and yeah giving up your idol isn't super smart, but if it had been like they thought, that would have been an amazing move.

JT is definitely one of my favorite Survivor players ever. He gets a ton of hate for giving Russell the idol but in my mind it would've been absolutely brilliant if it worked, possibly going down as the best move of all time. He wasn't afraid to make big moves and take big risks, is a challenge beast, and overall just a really likeable guy. Also it's important to remember that JT had no idea how Russell played in Samoa because that season was airing while this one was being filmed. I give JT a ton of credit for trying to be creative and make big moves, that's a true survivor right there

I’m with you on this. Seems like we’re in the minority. I always say the only season I question JT’s decisions is in Game Changers. If people put themselves in the perspective JT had, it would be hard not to do the same thing he did. Russell did a good job convincing them he will flip and voting out the men to make the “women’s alliance” more rational in the heroes tribe’s mind. Why not take a shot to try and get Parvati out? Especially with her game in Micronesia fresh in their minds.

Amanda should have known a lot better after experiencing the Ozzy blindside that happened with the help of Parvati. Those two made it to the finals together so for her to not calculate an upcoming blindside was strange. Should have just made JT keep his idol and keep it a secret and made a contingent plan to keep Russell if he could prove himself. JT would have been able to save himself this round if that happened. They were playing that social game too hard while not thinking about winning in the moment.

he tried to make a big ol move by incorrectly guessing that Russell was the one in danger on the other tribe and passed his idol to Russell after a challenge in order to play it and get rid of Parvati (since the heroes thought a women's alliance led by Parvati was running things over there), even going so far as to write this dramatic letter to Russell urging him to play it against Parv, so of course Parvati wouldn't be too happy about that. Even if they had correctly guessed that Russell and Parvati were working together, it's just a stupid idea in general to give away your idol, especially to people you have never worked with before in the game (when JT gave away the idol, the tribes were still separated so he had never spent any kind of time with any of the villains). They piled the votes on him to teach him a lesson AND get rid of the good ol' boy threat that easily won Tocantins.

He never really trusted her again after this, later hid an idol (which he misplayed) from her, and ultimately voted out Danielle, who was her true top ally and one of her goats that she needed to win in the end. This sequence of events led to a scenario where Parvati couldn't win at Final Tribal Council because she was guaranteed to sit next to someone who would beat her, whether it was Rupert, Colby, Jerri, or Sandra. Congratulations, Parvati. You played yourself.

It's not like it's something that can be highly calculated from Final Ten. If Russell was too lunatic about Parvati being the target, he never would have agreed to play two idols, and if he knew about the other idol, he never would have agreed to have his idol played over Parv's. This move would never have happened and who knows what would go down after that. Parvati could not know who would go between Jerri and Sandra. She probably even figured out she had to play that second idol when heroes started laughing and smiling when Sandra received that idol too.
