The reason the heroes sucked so much is because the tribe was made up of players who played together so much and had alliances that dominated past seasons. The villains really only had Coach and Tyson who played together but they were nothing dangerous in season 18. And jerri was probably pissed because Boston Rob screwed her in all stars with lex. I hope if they ever do another HvV, don't put people like Amanda and James who played together three times and keep it a two people per season, and not put half the damn micro favorites in it.

Because the show didn't want to include pre-game alliances that dominated the season. Steph went home because she was outnumbered from the start. If Tom and Cirie didn't butt heads and work together then Steph stays and Amanda goes. Tom has already gone on record as saying as much if him and Cirie saw eye to eye the merged team would be Tom, Cirie, Candace, Colby, and Steph. And maybe James.

I'm rewatching again HvsV and even if I'm not exactly fond of Stephenie, but James is nothing but repulsive. Cook Islands!Ozzy was a real epic hero or anyone from the Aitu 4 unlike James or Candice. Not even Randy or Russell were this disrespectful towards someone like the way James was towards Stephenie. The heroes should have gotten rid of him, Candice and Rupert first instead of Cirie, Tom or Steph. I wish Steph ended in the villain tribe due to her arc in Guatemala, the villains were far more decent than the so called "heroes" (exceptuating maybe Tom, Cirie and Colby). He makes fun of Steph by saying that her teams always lose, but he forgets quickly that he is not known for something remarkable outside of being Amanda's lapdog in both China and Micronesia, being an ass to Peih-Gee in China and for being medevac in Micronesia. He has no fucking shame. Like it ot not, Steph is a legend, James is not. And since karma is a bitch, the fool got injured in HvsV.

I think for the three time players you have to look at their original season. Cirie, Steph and Rupert no doubt were heroes on their first, not so much the second. And Amanda I have no idea what hero qualities she showed either season, unless they think blindsiding James was heroic, which it isn't.

She won a single immunity challenge in Survivor Guatemala when fellow fan faves James and Cirie never won any single immunity. And atleast she made it to the end once, alongside other 3 time players: Coach, Amanda, Colby, Aubrey and Tai. While other people who played 3 times never even made it to the end: Kelley We., Andrea, James, Malcolm, Joe, Jerry, Penner etc. And worse, 2 people played 4 times and never even made it to the very end: Cirie and Rupert. (atleast Ozzy did in his first try). So that's the end of the story. For Survivor's biggest losers (multiple times played but never made won)

Sugar was a great competitor and the very definition of a hero on her season. Her “goal” was to eliminate all the evil people (Randy, Corinne, Ken) and she successfully did as such. I think she deserved to come back.
