I remember Dave Bickler when he was front man with the Jamestown Massacre 1970-71. They played often in Downers Grove, IL at our youth center doing Three Dog Night, Chicago covers. His voice and stage presence was golden. ❤

I wish there was more live stuff by these guys out there. For my part I waited 42 years for them to schedule some UK shows, finally got tickets and 2 weeks before I was due to see them at the Shepherds Bush Empire, Jimmy J sadly joined the heavenly choir.

I live in the Chicago suburbs and have my whole life. I’ve been visiting the UK every year since 1977 as it’s my ancestral home and also my spiritual home. My wife and I love it there. I guess you’d consider me lucky as I know all the guys in Survivor very well. They used to play the rock clubs in the suburbs and the city of Chicago. The band I was in was sometimes support act for them at a club called Haymakers in Prospect Heights, Illinois. I knew the owners of that club very well as I played golf with them a couple times a week. Their best stuff was out before they were famous with Eye of the Tiger. Check out two Songs from the early days. “Rebel Girl” and “Somewhere in America”. In my opinion, those are the two best tracks that Survivor ever did.

@@BritainsBestGuitar I do have all their studio albums but Premonition & their debut album I bought on the catch up after they went mega with EOTT in 82. From then onwards I was hooked, but I always preferred their harder edged stuff, probably for that reason my perfect setlist would be very different from any show they've ever played. As a fan and follower from way way back you may be able to clear up an abiding mystery for me. As early 78 I saw a band on the UK college circuit who at the very least shared their name, when in 82 they hit the big time I wondered whether the band I had seen in 78 was in fact an earlier incarnation of the same band. I will never forget a number they played which they introduced as being about a guy jumping out of an aeroplane without a parachute which featured the immortal line 'Gordon do you feel everything's unreal spinning round and round until your body hits the ground, is that I wonder a line you remember from their early setlist? I'm honestly doubtful but it just crossed my mind to wonder.

Do you have any bootlegs with Dave Bickler on vocals?

Way under-rated. Great band.

Man, Dave Bickler could sing in 93. What a soulful voice. Too bad they didn’t release anything interesting around this time-just two dud singles.

I have to give it up for Bickler here. Sullivan made a huge mistake by not staying with Bickler after the passing of Jimi. Survivor is still touring and Bickler can still sing, bad blood destroys all that was once gold.

Yeah, it should absolutely be Bickler right now. The travesty that Frank-N-Beans is wheeling out there nowadays is not Survivor. It's just Frankie pretending he's still a rockstar.

You can feel the friction between Peterik and Sullivan. This was close to the end.

They had just started touring again, they had 3 more years until Peterik left.

The music Hall of Fame was a cold slap in Survivors face. They should have been inducted in. Both Bickler and Jimi Jamison were as good as Steve Perry, in fact, I liked them both better...❤

Man, so this GREAT band basically wound down doing county fairs etc. Great if you happen to be there but as a fan ... makes me sad. They deserved more. They are SO GOOD live. Orders of magnitude better that some of the other fossils out there raking in untold millions for phoning it in. Even at a show like this they give it ALL.

Great filming of this fine performance of Chicago's very own "Survivor". Dave Bickler doing the Jimi Jamison songs some justice. Great job, Dave. And Anita....such a pretty name. Are you married?
@lostgalaxy51137 ай бұрын
What a sad concert, missing there, the spark, the energy, the beauty, the voice, the charisma with the public that only Jimi had, watch a video of Jimi live, but be careful if you fall in love with him, it usually happens 😁.

Jamison was great don't get it twisted but Bickler did great and even sang Jamison's songs better than anyone other than Jamison himself could sing em.
@Faltor8952 ай бұрын
@@jeremyrothfuss605I'm watching now. Buckler doing a great Broken Promises. His roughest Jamison songs were High on You and The Search is Over that I recall from seeing them live in the 90s. We'll see here....
@Faltor8952 ай бұрын
Bickler did a fine job on High on You and Burning Bridges. The Search is Over he just doesn't have that stern soulful delicacy of Jamison's voice, and sounds strange on a couple of words "while". Was he giving it some Smeagol soul , lol?

Awesome show, everyone sounded great. But as usual, wayyy too short. Only 12 songs? SMH
