My heart breaks for this man and all Israelis who went through hell. How naive some of them are to still believe into coexistence with genocidal beasts. Even unspeakable sadistic atrocities committed against them by their neighbors whom they treated so humanely did not open their eyes. It means it's bound to happen again and this is really frightening.

I feel sad for him because I don't think he really understands our cousins, his heart believes in the good that does not exist. If someone is willing to die in order to kill you, you have no hope in getting that person to make peace with you. I pray that someday he will understand the nature of our cousins.

I totally agree with you. Once, I would have said "give peace a chance". Now, nope. How can anyone believe in peace when one side is always forced to compromise, ever-hopeful that the other side will realize coexisting provides greater benefits and a better future than being enemies? What did the kindness of peaceniks get them when H@mas and so-called innocent civilians invaded on Oct 7, 2023? Trust, tenuous and cautious, at best, has been broken, and it will surely take generations to build back, if ever.

@@CatouMilou I agree with you. The questions in my comment were rhetorical. It's obvious that the "cousins" don't want a better future. They had more than enough opportunities to do so and chose death over life and perpetual refugeehood over building a nation of their own, like Israel did. The "cousins" doomed themselves. There can be no peace with a side that is so committed to war and as you say, "keep destroying for the sake of their interpretation of the past". That said, the situation cannot continue as is because 1) Israelis need safety and security in their own land, and 2) the "cousins" ideology, which fuels hatred and breeds disinformation and more hatred, must end or else it will -- and actually already has -- impacted people beyond the region. So while I am not hopeful, I am pragmatic. Maybe former U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman's idea will work? Maybe Mordechai Kedar's eight-state, clan-based idea will work (foreignpolicyblogs.com/2014/03/20/dr-mordechai-kedar-the-eight-state-solution-is-the-best/)? At any rate, perpetual war is not the answer, either.

He wants to talk to the other side to achieve peace. Doesn't he understand that this kind of talk started with Oslo and continued until 7 Oct ? Did it help? Only victory can help Israel to survive. There is no other side to negotiate with. The army leadership betrayed the people of Israel.

From Australia, I thank you Ms. Glick for giving us this insight. For showing us so clearly the destructive intent on individuals by other individuals who chose to destroy the good they could see for no good reason. To Mr. Shnurman, my heart breaks for your loss. Your good spirit shone through the obvious soul crushing experience. Your hope for the future is a beacon of how to proceed, and I hope you will experience what you clearly see as the correct path; we just need to find a way to get the other side to see, and understand, their future is better following your thinking instead of their own self-distructing ideolgy. God bless you both and Israel.

It's hard to imagine talking about peace with people who brutally raped, burned and murdered men, women and children and still hold hostages in their hell hole tunnels. He was thankfully and miraculously spared and you can see how sad and traumatized he is. I am sorry for what he went through but I think he's projecting his own feelings and he would like to think others are as interested in peace and harmony as he is. I think he's sadly wrong. They have given us no reason to trust them. Quite the opposite.

I won't b watching this particular video, because everything like this horrendous. I had to keep putting the book Schindler's Ark down for the same reason. It was just overwhelming what these people did; I had to limp through the book over a long period of time. This is coming from someone who knows their own fair share of suffering over the years. I am always amazed how Israel as a nation are able to cope in the face of such hostility. I respect the work that you do, and admire how you are able to keep such decorum when reporting on this. I would blow a gasket. I will be giving it a thumbs up even though I wont be watching it.

He seems like a nice fellow but he’s wrong about talking to solve this war. You can never convince Evil to want peace. Just as in biblical times, we must all join to root out and destroy evil wherever it exists. These are lawless people who hate peace. Israeli citizens must understand and get a grip on reality. We can NEVER make peace with evil, NEVER is that going to be in the realm of possibility no matter how much we would want evil to quit and seek peace, it’s NEVER, NEVER, never going to happen. Like I said, he seems like a nice guy and it’s a shame he hasn’t woken up even now after what he went through.

In 1972 I went with a tourist bus to different places, among them Hebron. There was an arab group of men, staring at us with so much hate in their eyes, that I felt that peace with this people is utopia. I have not changed my mind since then. It is very very sad.

One should never forget that Hamas militants in Gaza attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, and the Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon attacked Israel on October 8, 2023, in solidarity with the people of Gaza. When the Israeli Mossad responded by killing Ismail Haniyeh (the chief politburo of Hamas) in Tehran on July 31, 2024, Iran responded with a barrage of 181 ballistic missiles against Israel on October 1, 2024. Israel has a peremptory norm to defend itself against wanton attacks. Since the US is a principal ally of Israel, the two nations often exchanging military intelligence, it is only natural that the US will come to Israel's aid and assistance if events deteriorate in this region. The US naval presence in the region, however, did not deter Iran from launching its ballistic missiles at Israel, and two naval vessels operating in the region could only spare 12 intercepting missiles shot at the Iranian salvo en route to Israel.
