Survivor Weekend Gig Log 2019

What's Up Everyone!! Welcome back to my channel. This Gig Log was a little different than what I am used to, but I am happy I was a part of this production. Hope Church Tempe is a Christian Church/Organization in Arizona that hosts a summer camp for college students all throughout the state as well as UNLV! This was my first time attending the weekend long event and it was very spectacular. The first night is a 30min dance party and the rest of the weekend is filled with intense (Survivor TV show) style games and lot of mud... LOTS OF MUDDDDDD.... Head count was over 800 students!!! Great setup! I personally wouldn't have put the RX ONE's on the stage edge floor but on some flightcases behind the dj, that way you still get the beams shooting low over the crowd and they are away from curious hands...

Did you use rear projection for the center screen? The throw distance looks short for the size of the screen? Great vids!

It's funny you asked, yes they did. The church wanted to mix so they ran their X32 board and ran the system in mono. But sometime between sound check and during the performance, The DJ or The Engineer boosted the mix which made the left cabs limit and turn off and then turn back on. And it kept happening. They got hit with the audio effect where you ears get used to the volume overtime and feel the need to make it louder.

@@DecibelDuo gotcha. Gotta love that temporary threshold shift lol.. Did the DJ's have any booth monitors? In any case though, it is definitely important to have enough headroom in your system, in this case four k12's seemed to just barely cut it for this caliber of event. Maybe use the KLA's or other boxes with more headroom next time?

@@FOHFILMS That and what I'll probably do next time is max out the DJ controller's gain to 100% before going to the mixer so during the event that I am not DJ'ing, the DJ can boost the gain all the way and still not limit the system. But, I do agree the K12s were on the edge of being not powerful enough for the space. I'm looking into KLA boxes, maybe for prom season.

@@DecibelDuo You should try with Martin CDD Live 15, i heard them in person and they were extremely loud and the distortion was so low.

@@jackxfabr3905 You're the second person that's mentions the CDD Live 15 boxes. I'm just turned away by the price. I think I'm going to go with K12.2 for their versatility, amplitude and price point being so affordable.

Well, I haven't thought about that. But if I were to give you an answer right now. It would be for me to drop box you hype footage of the dances and events we do and you turn it into short hype edits and promos for social.
