The greatest defense of all time. Two of their starters held out the whole season, Todd Bell and Al Harris and the still won the Superbowl. They released the Superbowl Shuffle during the season and it became a hit. No team will ever have that much swag again. I was in highschool in 85 on the southside of Chicago.

Love these old games and their simplicity. I prefer the less produced NFL product like back in the '80s and '90s over today's product and actually do only watch old games for my NFL fix. No graphics all over the field, news sports scores and other news scrolling across the screen, just the fans and the game. EXCELLENT!! :)

The Lions were so injury riddled, therefore the outcome was a no brainer considering the defense they were playing against. Ferguson was a 1970s era veteran who was probably getting a little more fragile at the time. No doubt as some say that if it were today, Marshall would have definitely been hit with a roughing the passer penalty.

It's too bad I can't keep these games posted year round, because the NFL takes them down during the season. Posting games to KZbin, gives fans the freedom to watch what they want & when. I'll have some new games posted in the next few weeks.

Guess I'm lucky enough to witness live....The Bears, Bulls, Sox and Cubs win their respective Championships. My Grandfather once told me ...be grateful you can want Baseball during the and at night(for those that may not know...the Cubs played only in the day for a long time)

So glad I was the 1985 Bears as it was the last great hardest hitting colorful REAL football team ever. And because bears have sucked so bad in all the years since!
@gjm1953
@gjm1953 5 жыл бұрын
While I agree that in my lifetime there have not been any Bears teams to equal the "85 gang, I disagree about the "sucked so bad in all the years since" statement. Just one example is the Bears that made it to the Super Bowl in 2006. That team didn't suck.
@PRHILL9696

That team was a fluke. Even Bear fans knew they would lose the game as they did not belong there

So, in your view, if a team doesn't win the Super Bowl that means they suck?
@PrinceTron1

Since the 1986 season the Bears have had 13 winning seasons with the current season pending a 14th winning season since 1986, 6 playoffs wins and 1 Super Bowl appearance. How in the world can they "suck so bad in all the years" you mentioned!? The exaggeration is real!

That '84 BEAR/RAIDERS game at SOLDIER FIELD was not for the faint of heart. While qb David Humm seemingly ran for his life, one of the injured defensive players on LA told his defensive coordinator: "man. I'd like to get in in some of that"! To which his dc responded by saying: "are you crazy? Whaddya you have. A DEATH WISH?!"

I attended that game. Best remembered for the bears losing Mc Mahon for the season due to a lacerated kidney, and the Bears did knocking all 3 Raiders Qbs out at one time or another. Poor Hamm, first game he played that yr, and the last of his short Career. Hamm retired after the season

Astroturf WAS concrete covered by a rug back then. I blame it for the concussions and knee injuries as much as hard hitting in the '70s and '80s.

@@indy_go_blue6048 true, most injuries due to that hard astroturf . but sometimes you can have knee injuries on a deep muddy natural turf field. it ended my career at the too young age of 15 years old . doctor explained it something like your cleats go first in the muddy top layer, your muscles don't react, you make a move and your cleats hit the hard dirt at the bottom . you muscles weren't tightened and your acl took all the pressure and thats what blew out my acl .
