Literally just got back from a 4 day canoe trip in algonquin, all my sites looked exactly like this and the bugs were just as bad! Beautiful spot

When I was in my teens, my Uncle and I would go to Linville Gorge every summer for a month wilderness camping. We'd bring a bit of food, but it was up to us to feed ourselves for the largest part of the month. Every year, I always looked forward to the shower when we'd finally get home, but my fondest memories of growing up are of those months spent fending for ourselves in the wilderness. If you have the chance/ability to do something like that, I highly recommend it.

....a hunk of chub or sucker, a hook and a sinker, one forked stick jambed in the ground...cast out, prop the rod on the forked stick and then... : ) set up camp. Just looks like there ought to be a big ole laker out in front of that spot. Smiling, George.

Back in the early 80's I was a crazy 22 yr old, and a friend, and I went on a canoe trip at night. We crossed Biscayne Bay (Miami) heading towards Eliot Key which is a seven mile crossing. There was the summer storm, of course, and the lost anchor made up of a coral rock. We thought we were going into the northern end of Eliot where we would find Sands Cut. We were mistaken. Instead, we were still in early morning darkness had been blown of course southwards ending up at a place called Caesars Creek. So, once through Caesars we drifted ocean side southbound, and ended up at daybreak on some myterious island that seemed plausible for a camp. Next thing we see is a hughes helicopter about 50 feet above us, and security guards in golf carts heading our way through the thicket. Funny thing is I knew one of the quards (Huck), from art school a few years earlier. Turns out we were camping on Ocean Reef Club property. Nixon once lived there. Daham. Thanks Les. Bless

I must be dyslexic! I always come into shore sideways and then turn sharp so my back end is up on the shore. Now I'm secure and don't have to walk thru the canoe. Thanks for continuing your series 👍😀🇨🇦

Only happened to me once as well. "Gee - I see my canoe but I didn't think I had wandered this far from shore?" Thank goodness it was a calm night (it was dark already) on a lake. And I can swim!

Les can you make new Survivorman shows for your KZbin channel. It could be shorter days like 3-5 days camping trip.
