Susan was one of the main "sixties chicks" of Swinging London, a time I wish to go back to on a magic carpet. Everything said about it was true, but much, much more. Susan, a great actress, exemplified the last days of freedom, style, great music, optimism and fun during what was called the Youth Quake that shook the world led by the Beatles. God bless her.

Sam Peckinpah lived in North Fork Ca, a logging town in the sierra mountains 50 miles east of Fresno/Madera. It's a ex logging town since 1993, a little twilight zone town, slowly fading. There's a Peckinpah rd, it goes up to Whiskey falls.

Hi Susan, thanks so much for this channel, well, what can I say?, I'm sure I can speak for many other fans here when I say that you've been one of my favourite actresses going way back, you've been in loads of movies and shows that I have seen, we're talking old school here, the 60's and 70's which will probably tell you I'm no spring chicken, if I can put it like that Lol, going into the 80's though, I especially liked your part in Hammer House Of Mystery And Suspense with the story called Czech Mate, you played a character called Vicky along with that other great, amazing actor Patrick Mower who played John your husband, brilliant story, HHOM&S had an inherently great formula anyway but you and him brought it to even higher heights, there were other great actors in it as well that made it such a hit, I also liked those parts you played in Tales Of The Unexpected, another fantastic show in itself, all the best :)

5:55 I find it interesting that she laughed off the 3 guys' joke and fondly romanticized it as a funny and unique way to announce her hiring. Can you imagine if this happened now with an actress today? Ashley Judd would not be amused. Both eras are strange to me. I can't believe I've been here for both. I used to be too free and reckless, dangerous. Now I'm afraid to come out of the house and get canceled.

@russellstanton7583

I remember as a young man thinking the rape scene went really wrong when she started enjoying the "rape". It was almost as if it was a confirmation statement that "no" doesn't necessarily mean "no" which even in those days perturbed me. My only criticism of the film which to me is far superior to the remake...
@tomeks666
@tomeks666 3 жыл бұрын
But the scene was not supposed to be a political statement. It was just a part of the story and her reaction was not so improbable, taking into account the fact, that it was her former boyfriend and she had a crisis in her relationship. And nothing suggested in the film that the fact that she responded to the rape with a sort of pleasure made it less of a crime.
@humanbeing2420
@humanbeing2420 7 ай бұрын
@@tomeks666 It probably wasn't intended as a political statement, but regardless, at the end of the day it depicted a woman resisting a violent rape and then enjoying it. Audiences are influenced by what they see in film and on television, even if it's fiction. And that film, by proposing that a woman might enjoy rape, helped influence people to think that women might enjoy rape once it starts happening to them. That's an incredibly pernicious idea to propagate.
@WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1

People type actors, and her type was 'sexpot'. Bullshit. This is an actress. She can play a seductress, as well as anyone ever did. But there's always so much more going on beneath the surface, even when she's doing some cheap exploitation film. Which Straw Dogs isn't, of course, and she knew this was her shot to be taken more seriously. It didn't entirely come off, but that wasn't any failure on her part, but on the part of the critical establishment.

NO sorry.. doesnt work that way! making movies is a directors medium! you are only hired for one reason! that reason is to be a puppet for the puppet master! your job is to do everything the director wants from the character you are playing.. blackmailing the director with half the film the can, is not helping the director achieve his vision! you should have known from the start what was expected! this is why SAM had so many conflicts with studios, AND ACTORS, THEY wouldnt do what was asked from them! and then try and blackmail him~!
