Based on the novel "The Sin Of Susan Slade" by Doris Hume, Warner Brothers studio quickly snapped up the rights and paired Connie Stevens (in the title role) and Troy Donahue as the romantic leads, as they had just co-starred in "Parrish (1961). The story of a romantic and innocent young woman who loses her first love in a tragic accident and is left pregnant, and her parents (Lloyd Nolan and Dorothy McGuire), to preserve their daughter's reputation, pretend the child is their own. Susan falls in love with Hoyt (Troy Donahue), who has a tragic past but feels that she has no chance for love again. After her father's sudden death, her mother wants her to marry wealthy Wells Corbett (Bert Convy). Finding it increasingly difficult to pretend that her son is her younger brother, Susan must make a choice, but will she lose respectability and Hoyt in the process? I wasn't able to find the music score for this movie, so I used "Lucy's Theme" by Max Steiner from "Parrish". I haven't made a video tribute to these lush, tear-jerker soap opera movies in a while. The film has gorgeous photography and scenery, and one unintentinonally funny moment (if you've seen it, you know what I mean).
