That's Connie Stevens in the early part of the video, when the narrator mentions Sandra Dee. Later on we do see Dee, but then (after "If true,...") it's Joey Heatherton onscreen while there's still talk about Dee. Surfside Six was NOT a soap opera, as stated, but a detective TV series along the lines of 77 Sunset Strip and Hawaiian Eye (all WB productions, incidentally, and all successful internationally in the early 60s).

I read the reason why Suzanne Pleshette divorced Troy Donahue who she married because he was "unreliable" and not committed to their marriage. He seemed to think about himself than to consider their marriage. Once she saw his patterned, she divorced him. I really can't blame her since she wanted a good marriage. I was glad she married again and this time it was worth it.

This is going way back, but I recall Suzanne relating her experience, on a television talk show (it might have been Merv Griffin's) that when she was the subject of the "This is Your Life" show (early 1970's) the ONLY thing she thought was: "If they bring in Troy Donahue, I am walking out!" It was incredibly funny and, of course, she got a huge audience laugh. She said nothing more (on this show) about Troy after this. Of course people wondered why she said this. P.S. Tom Poston's last name is pronounced as if to say, POST -Ton (not as it is said here - "Posst-ton") He appeared on many television game shows in the 1960's-70's - including "To Tell the Truth" and "What's my Line?" You can see some of these shows out here on KZbin and hear him being introduced to the audience.

We moved out of Brooklyn and I did not grow up with Suzanne. I did happen to bump into her accidently one day when we were adults and identified myself to her. She was most gracious in that brief encounter and that was the last I saw her in person. She was gorgeous. What really killed her was her addiction to cigarettes.

It's a shame when any marriage ends, but it's even worse when it ends so quickly. At least Susan Pleshett's 3 marriages except for the one with Troy Donahue lasted for years. Unlike Troy Donahue's four marriages that the longest one lasted only three years. He's one of those guys that basically should never gotten married he didn't know what he wanted. Susan Pleshett was a much better actor than Troy Donahue, her career lasted decades. I remember her from the comedy show Good Morning, Miami. I also remember one of her last appearances was as the grand marshall for the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade.🙂 A wonderful actress with a wonderful reputation. I got to meet and do some work for Suzanne Pleshette. She was just as beautiful in person as she was on the screen, big or small. She was very intelligent and had a great sense of humour. I told her that one of her films had aired on TV the night before, and she asked what it was and if the black and white contrast was good or not. She said she can't watch a black & white film unless the contrast is correct. Too light, no good. Too dark, no good. She was a professional and had been in the business a long time, and she knew what she liked, what she didn't like, and she knew what worked for her and what did not. She was tough. I was late meeting her one time and she wasn't pleased, but when I told her why, everything changed and she just wanted to know that I was okay. I was in a little fender bender. The company I worked for moved to Beverly Hills and we had a party so clients could see the new location. She and her husband walked in and she made a B-line directly to me and kissed me on the mouth! I was stunned, but thrilled. It was Gay Pride that day and a huge parade going down Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood. Suzanne lived on Holloway, one street over from Santa Monica Blvd., and she and her husband were discussing how they would get home. Suzanne got an idea. I know! We can get a ride on a motorcycle with Dykes on Bikes and they can take us across the boulevard. Everyone laughed. I am certain they just took a round-a-bout way home. She was a great actress. In Hollywood, she was known for a time as the poor man's Elizabeth Taylor.

Suzanne Pleshette and Troy Donahue were married on the same day that Eva Gabor was beaten and robbed of a $25,000 diamond ring when both she and her husband at the time, Wall Street stockbroker Richard Brown, were in Miami (The Number One song on that same day was There I've Said it Again by Bobby Vinton; the last Number One song by an American artist before The Beatles and the British Invasion took over and completely changed popular music.) Later that same year, both she and Eva were in the Warner Brothers movie Youngblood Hawke with James Franciscus. And they had a close friendship as well.
