Friendly letter writing is not part of my curriculum but I try to fit it in. I agree with you, students still have reasons to write letters even in first grade. I like to use anchor charts and mentor texts for writing. Love the ideas you give for before reading the story, during and after. Thanks for sharing all these wonderful lessons.

I loved letter writing when I taught 1st grade. The Jolly Postman was the BEST!!! Our kindergarteners don't have to write letters now (though who knows...things keep getting added!!).

Love this! I'm actually taking my practicum class on a "field trip" to the post office, so this is perfect! Thank you for sharing. Can you let me know what app you use to create all your fun documents? I'm an avid power point and word user, but I find they are so much work! There must be an easier way!!!
