Suspect likely high on PCP, aggressive and armed with a pole. No one is around so no innocent people are endangered by this man - lethal force is not needed or justified. Wait until more officers arrive to ensure a successful hands on takedown whilst staying close and monitoring the situation to make sure members of the public aren’t strolling into danger. All officers are different, those first two officers probably figured that they didn't have the physical ability to take him down, short of shooting him, so waited for more able-bodied officers to arrive, is my theory. On the flip side, some officers were accomplished athletes in high school and still keep in shape, and woulda felt confident in trying to physically tackle the suspect. All depends on the officer.

I understand that if he had been shot, there would have been an outcry from the "community" and the Al Sharptons and Benjamin Crumps of the world would have tried to incite for the city to be burned down. A hit like that from a metal pipe would have put the cop on the ground, stumbling around for a least a little bit. As a former LEO for over 26 years it’s hurts me to see what policing has become because of fear to be able to police. We can thank our politicians and citizens that will throw these officers under the bus and want to prosecute these officer if they hurt this perp… citizens don’t want these guys on the street but will riot when deadly force is used. This what happens when you give criminal more rights then the law abiding citizens in this country … Get ready to live like the movie Mad Max..

They allowed him to walk among the public with a metal pipe that he already busted a cops head with. They allowed too much time to take him down.. let’s say he would of ran up to a civilian and went to crack them in the head now you have a deadly force use where you have civilians in the crossfire … not a good scenario. Subduing a suspect doesn’t always entail them getting hurt.

What was stopping him from running at the bystander and killing them? Like they needed to use some force not even deadly force but actually take out down. Totally indecisive, completely careless & irresponsible for just allowing this crazy guy who hits cop in face with metal bar to just casually walk around for 10 minutes endangering each & every member of the public within his vicinity. After the 1st cops tazer didn't drop him, why didn't the 2nd cop hit him with tazer, then 3rd cop. Doesn't bode well for the disturbing levels of increased criminality going on in every town & city when we see an entire police force/squadron unable to detain 1 suspect (who wasn't even running!)
