This was disturbing but I'm comforted by the fact that I only have to top up the water in my car battery 3 times a year!

Definitely one of the most well-known episodes that was never made into a TV spot or anything. Best part is listening to Cary Grant. He charms even over radio waves. What a talent he was.

You can imagine 50s kids biting nails listening to this while siting on the couch with the rest of the siblings and covered with the blanket. Worse?! Listening to this in the backseat of your parents car while driving through the woods on a low traffic road in a cold winter night, and staring out of your seat's window the shadows of the trees in the pitch black horizon of the forest.

Air Date:11.16.1950 ( November 16, 1950) Plot:+ "On A Country Road". Sponsored by: Auto-Lite. A melodrama about an escaped madwoman and a couple out of gas in the dark. The story was subsequently produced on "Suspense" on January 4, 1954, December 4, 1954 and May 10, 1959. The program was also heard on "The Grip Of Terror" in 1977. + You are driving along a country road. The traffic is starting to back-up and a storm is brewing. All you need to complete the scene is a lunatic on the run after butchering a doctor, a nurse and a ward attendant with a meat cleaver in the nearby mental hospital. This is a classic killer-on-the-loose story starring Cary Grant and a superb example of just how gripping old time radio shows can be. Guys, don't ever take "the shortcut" when you're low on gas. At night. In a nasty storm. Way out in the middle of nowhere. Relationship pro tip www.oldtimeradiodownloads.com/thriller/suspense/on-a-country-road-1950-11-16
