surprised how well Ralph Edwards did - yes he was playing a radio announcer - but it's hard to even play yourself convincingly - his performance kept the story rolling along - with a humorous touch

I discovered old time radio plays in '74 ( I was 19). Been a fan ever since. This particular episode is one of my all time favorites! Fun & a little scary!

I heard this episode about 8 mths ago and I loved it, the way it was written was so original and just think guys n girls it was aired 70yrs ago!!!! To me that's amazing that it still has the power to make u think and in a very very mild way even scare u!!! Brilliant stuff and such a great programme!!!

I remember hearing this late at night when Larry Glick would play special Old Time Radio on Halloween on WBZ in the 70's. It's great to listen to on a dark windy night.

Those were the nights, listening in the dark at bed time (early '50s) & w Larry G.

Oh those were the days. I had been listening to Larry Glick from my home in Newton, Massachusetts since 1964 (when I was 10 years old) when he was originally on WMEX Boston way down the end of the dial. He later moved to WBZ. Boston. Especially nice on those hot summer nights (with no AC in the house) summer vacations my brother and I would listen till he went off the air early in the morning.

+Mary Wilder The man doing the commercials and announcing was Harlow Wilcox, who was also the announcer/pitchman for the popular comedy show: "Fibber McGee & Molly". In that show he and his pitch for Johnson's Floor Wax was included as part of the program ... often to the chagrin of Fibber McGee (Jim Jordan).

This great production really brings the story to life! It appeared in the 25th Anniversary issue of "Weird Tales" magazine, March, 1948.

Animals are able to sense a great deal more than we humans give them credit for in detecting such things we have not even an awareness exists, even their sense of smell (and probably vision) is amazing as are the German Shepherd dogs in detecting illegal drugs from quite a distance off.

Wire recorder was the forerunner of the ribbon tape recorder. Wire recorders used just that, wire instead of tape. Ever see a movie I think called ,The Red Skull? Their is a wire recorder used in one scene. They talk about wiping off what's on the recorder instead of eraceing it. Would like to see one.
