Don't really know much about working on this heavy duty machinery, but I love to watch you work on it, you make it look simple though I know better Thanks!!

That looked pretty easy compared to the walking beams. Also this set-up appears to weigh substantially less than some other designs. Thanks for the video.

Thanks for watching!! This suspension has more moving parts so it takes more maintenance.

@SemiWorkin thinking I need to change my z spring. Noticing ride height difference between the right side and the left side, with the left side being about an inch higher where I measured in the rear. I noticed that whoever had the truck before me changed the z spring on the front left drive axle but didn't change the opposite side. Do you think that would cause the suspension to ride higher on the side the new one was put on vs the old z spring side? Also, I see you have jack stands under the axle that u put in once u jacked up wheels high enough to get off ground. What are you doing to take the weight off that z spring? Jacking frame up as well? Air in bags vs empty? Etc. Just curious how to go about doing it. Thanks for the vid!

For light weight Z springs work but on a grain truck loading 18 19 tons they break easily

why take tires off. we never do even replacing z bar spring or wear pads . just to make a few more dollars on shop time

Iv never seen a truck with that type of z bar suspension....is there any advantage to it?
@davidrfowler64323 жыл бұрын
yes !! independent rear suspension some what anyway, the rear axle is too close to the bottom of the frame , so the "Z" bar was invented to allow longer length air bags for more weight carrying capacity and suspension smoothness

Thanks for watching!! Advantages are air ride makes smoother ride and heavier loads. Disadvantages are more moving parts equals more maintenance.

This always happens on my mack dump truck.Airing up and down the suspension while dumping wear out the components very quick.

I recently bought a older western star with same suspension, my first air ride truck as an owner operator, very informative and helpful I know I'll pay a little more attention and plan to upgrade in the near future. Keep up the good work👍
