Given his phenomenal success with the '68 Comeback Special, it still amazes me that NO ONE in the organization back then had the idea and foresight to properly film at least a couple of the Vegas shows from 1969, if for no other reason, than archival purposes as part of the Elvis legacy. They really made a huge mistake in not doing so, as well as not filming some of the fantastic American Sound Studio sessions from the first part of that same year. Thank you for this video!

You can thank Tom Parker for that! He wouldn't let anyone film unless he was paid enormous sums of money! He mismanaged Elvis so badly. He never understood the phenominom that Elvis was! Elvis missed out on so many opportunities because of Parker!
@qso3566
@qso3566 3 жыл бұрын
@@sandralybrand9407 That's true about Parker. He didn't even want Elvis to do those American Sound recordings and he had no real creative path for Elvis. In my opinion, Elvis should have fired him after those recording sessions. So I do blame Parker for a lot of wrong in Elvis' career, BUT it was up to Elvis to get rid of Parker and surround himself with really bright, creative, interesting people ... and other than those sessions, he just never did so. It's a shame because who knows where Elvis could have gone in his career AND he might have taken better care of himself physically and mentally had his career taken a more positive direction.

The idea they have, but, as it happens with the magnificent Madison Square Garden, Parker's greed got on the way and he didn't want to spend money on the production. What matters for him was money in his account. Parker became so greed and so addicted to games that he lost the initial touch and did all wrong in the 60s and 70s!

i also thought the same and asked about it, some people reckon it was because they put loads of money into the comeback special they didn't have as much to put into the filming in 1969, or maybe they decided there isn't as much need to as since the comeback special elvis was going to do many more shows so there would have been many more opportunities to put the money into filming them

It’s amazing how much I have grown to absolutely love this song. His energy, his voice…. I’d take these live performances of this song alone over the studio recorded versions any day. Those who got to experience this man live are the luckiest people in the world. They witnessed utter greatness that will never happen again. ❤

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! I always say the same: Imagine - you are involved ... in Elvis 1968 ... Elvis 1969 ... Elvis 1970 ... watch and listening in the stuido --- in rehearsals ... live on stage ... watch this un-human aesthetic beauty MASTER OF THE UNIVERSE! Even when Elvis Presley Superstar is drinking water or Gatorade live on stage .... you can´t keep your eyes off of him! I am hetero ... "but" Elvis Presley is so aesthetic sexy ... everything is so beautiful on him, what he is how doing ... and then as the peak to that all ---- HIS VOICE! HIS SINGING VOICE! HIS SPEAKING VOICE! Even the speaking voice of Elvis in 1968 - 1969 - 1970 is out of everything! If 'Elvis crossed your life - you are done! And still today I am soooo thankful: Elvis Presley is the in-richment of the Universe for us humans! ❤

I really don't think anyone knew or understood this man's greatness. WE should have volumes of excellent quality film of these early performances and yet we don't. So much of what I have seen comes from the fans who filmed him with their own little cameras. His fans knew, I can't say the same for many of the decision makers around him........SIGH!

I was a teenager when he died and was listening to l think the top 40 on bbc radio. I remember his last song Way Down. A great song and I’m sure he could have gone on in different circumstances. Back to the King and his music. He and Sinatra are the finest singers of their eras and impossible to match. It’s weird to consider that probably a majority of the world we’re not alive in his lifetime, and will never experience how big he was. There will never be another Elvis Presley.

@@KAUSHIK-yb8rv Just saw this comment now & disagree with both videos being clearly visible. I would not call film that is so black on '69, clearly visible -- there is nothing barely to see but blackness -- not worth the time. Better to put the songs from '69 together with the gorgeous color & b&w still shots -- then you can at least see him in all his glory while you listen to him. And this is coming from a big Elvs fan since 1954.

Great footage - full shots of Elvis ( I like the closeups too ) which i haven't seen much of in doing Suspicious Minds. The black suit was more footage than i've seen before ( must be the opening engagement of July / August . Thanks for showing and uploading this for us ( The Fans )
