Italian horror is an acquired taste. Either you love it or you don't. And if you didn't grow up watching it than your'e more inclined to not like it. Suspiria is massively influential. This film came out in the 70s but looks like its from the 80s because so many horror directors cited it and Dario Argento as an influence on them like Carpenter, Craven, and Romero.

Also, Helena Markos, the head of the coven, was not "In" the fire, she faked her death because the locals were getting wise to her after her battle with a white witch (as revealed in The Mother of Tears) which explains why she was so weak, though it would have been better to mention it in Suspiria but it would have broken the mystery at the end. Plus Helena Markos is centuries old. It is also hinted that Suzy Bannion was a latent white witch in the later films and they wanted to sacrifice her to return Helena to power. It is also hinted that the school coven was draining power from Helena and she was a bit upset about it.

@Estorium5 жыл бұрын
@@zetokaiba5867 Erm, I wrote that a shit long time ago. No, none of what I wrote is a joke, however in retrospect I think I should change that bio. Initially I was going to start a channel to document the day to day of living with an array of mental disorders. I have come a long way from there, and although I still suffer from those things, I would rather not announce them. Back then I wanted to break the stigma of mental illness and speak openly about it. Although I still fully believe in speaking openly about it, I don't want those things to be defining characteristics of me. So I will change my bio. 1. Check out Argento's Deep Red (Starring David Hemmings). It might be the master's best movie. 2. Check out Argento's international cut of the original Dawn of the Dead, "Zombi". The pie fight is a lot shorter, Goblin's full music score is restored (Romero barely used it) and there are other changes (I consider them improvements). 3. FYI: Every close-up stabbing in all Argento films are performed by the director himself wielding the weapon.

Suspiria turns 45!!! Had mixed reaction from critics originally Still one of my favorite horror films by Italian horror master Dario Argento Had no idea it was based on the 1845 book Thomas de Quincy Such chilling music by The Goblins Jessica Harper is really good in this Terrific pacing as well next to the bloody kills That German ballet academy school the way it's lit with the flashy neon colors of pink and red, that's the stuff of nightmares I would not want to stay there The movie plays on the malevolent promise; the fear of age comes the need to recapture youth once lost It's also ranked on multiple retrospective lists as an undeniable masterpiece to even featuring on Bravo’s ‘The 100 Scariest Movie Moments’ ranked at the extremely impressive number 24 spot It's got great concepts too; The fear of age and with it inevitable end, the pressures of harnessing untapped potential, the daunting struggles of the ever-changing human body and the haunting concept of an innocence entirely lost These are all mental obstacles we face throughout our lives at one stage or another At its core lies the terrifying progression from adolescence into adulthood but portrayed through the eyes of the very manifestation of evil unrelenting in its attempt to prevent all these concepts from destroying the soul and the human vessels we inhabit A very real subject matter that poses as many questions as it divulges answers
