When Laurie finally confronted Michael I thought a neat twist could have been to have Michael not know who she was. Just have him tilt his head when she called out his name. It's just my opinion but it would have been an interesting contrast with Laurie to spend 40 years obsessing over Michael, damaging her relationships all the while Michael didn't even care enough to bother remembering her.
@DAv20035 жыл бұрын
To be honest, that was the impression I got from the movie anyway. Michael doesn't really react to Laurie in their first meeting in the movie and seemed content to just wander around and kill random people. It's only the doctor bringing him to Laurie's place that brings the climax with them together and I just got the impression that Michael honestly didn't care who Laurie was.

If I ain't mistaken, I actually think Michael kept thinking about her. Think about it. Michael is pretty much just a predator who seeks to kill... and nothing else. He has no empathy, no regret for his actions, nothing. All he wants... is to kill. Once he sets his eyes on a target, he'll go for that person because it's pretty much his prey. And on the wiki I spotted the fact that Michael has a rare condition called ''congenital insensitivity''. He doesn't feel pain whatsoever. Combine that with the fact that he's a sociopath and there we go. You got a monster who doesn't feel regret, empathy and especially no pain (shot in the shoulder by a revolver, hit by a car, fingers blown off by a shotgun, shot in the face, tumbled down stairs... he just gets back again as if it was nothing) AND who has pretty much a hunter/predator mentality. He doesn't go as far as killing small children (as seen in that scene with the baby crib) because they pose no challenge or threat to him whatsoever. As for Laurie... she was the one who actually escaped him years ago. So she basically became his best prey. His most precious target. That's why I think Michael won't stop hunting her until either she gets killed or he gets killed himself.

The bottom line detail that people seem to miss is the firdt halloween film had a tag line of "Fate". It is fate that brings them together. They are a ying yang relationship. He did for get her, until that climax she showed him who she was. Its fate that brought them back. The idea of pure evil against a simple frightend and stained individual.

But as he said this we hear the teacher in the background say "His method is TOTALLY helpful." That voice is PJ Soles who was also in the original. 6:46 I beg to disagree. The elimination of the brother/sister thing, to me, makes Michael’s motives more unclear, making him seem more unpredictable and menacing. In the original series after 2, we all knew he was after his own blood and anyone who got in his way, making him seem less of a threat to everyday people who aren’t related to him.
@michaelplowman8674 Жыл бұрын
The thing I hated most about them wiping away Halloween II was by taking that away it makes Laurie's idea that Michael would hunt her down ridiculous. In this timeline Laurie really didn't have a reason to be so paranoid. I guess it's because calling it something else, or calling it 'Halloween 2', will make people think that it is a sequel to another movie, and people might not want to go through the efforts of watching the previous sequels to make sense of this one. Calling it simply 'Halloween' draws more people to it, especially those who've never seen a Halloween movie before, and it gives the illusion of it being a reboot or a remake, which it is not. It's nothing more than a marketing strategy. The filmmakers of The Thing (2011) did the same thing by calling it the same name as JC's The Thing (1981), even though it's a prequel to that movie. It's a marketing thing, I guess.

Yeah, unfortunately this movie had to tow the 'wahmen good, men bad' line most hollywood movies have been shoving out lately. Which is unfortunate, because it's the bad writing that really keeps this movie from becoming as good (or possibly even better) than the original. It doesn't really matter how good the rest of the movie is, little things like that that make the audience stop and go 'huh? Why?' ruins suspension of disbelief, which is very much needed in any movie like this.

My one problem in Halloween (2018). How did MM know the journalists were at the gas station? He just happened to drive there?

Seeing this movie in theaters was the most fun I’ve had in terms of a movie-going experience in a long time. It was small, maybe ten of us, but damn everyone was having a good time. Every time that amazing synthesized soundtrack kicked in everyone was bouncing their heads and “dancing”. Some people were vocal (during the right moments) and funny as hell too. Despite all of us being strangers we all clearly had love for the Halloween franchise and were all enjoying seeing Michael on the big screen (cause for a lot of us we didn’t get to do that with the original, it’s always been through our TV’s). Definitely a movie that I’m fond of based on experience alone.

I have no idea why Decker is afraid of Michael Myer on an electric wheelchair. Michael on a traditional wheelchair on the other hand...

John Carpenter himself hated the Michael is Laurie's brother twist, even admitting he was only able to finish the script for Halloween 2 after drinking a six pack and getting incredibly drunk.

When I feel down I do things such as reread Zaphod Beeblebrox's intro in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, now I can get a similar effect from watching your creative, witty, fucking interesting and awesome reviews!

I don't care what anyone has to say against this movie....I absolutely loved it. First Horror movie I ever viewed in a Cinema, and the experience was definitely one of my favorites. I had a smile from ear to ear during those beginning credits in the theater....

I LOVE the Decker dancing Myers! I’m so simple, it doesn’t matter how many times I see it I end up in hysterics lol My only complaint of your Halloween series review Decker is that there wasn’t enough of your dancing Myers! You’re funny but the dancing Myers is your greatest sketch/invention so far 😂😂😂

Wait... if jumpscares are just startling... then they're jump-startles, not scares. Also, I was taught how to shoot a gun, use a bow and arrows, a knife, I was taught Akido, Kendo, how to fight with various swords (my favorite is the katana), Indian walking, reflex training, sensitory training, and poll arms. Also, I'm a girl, and I'm VERY GRATEFUL to have been taught how to kick ass and defend myself when I need to. I also use it for Larp.

9:10 the boyfriend, Cameron's father, that Ray was referring his story about doing acid and tripping balls in the woods with was Lonnie Elan from the original Halloween movie. He was one the kids that were picking on little Tommy Doyle at school and he was the kid that Dr. Loomis scared off that night while hiding in bushes outside the Myers house. "Hey Lonnie, Get your ass away from there!".
