Sussan Ley ‘clueless’ on ‘flawed’ gender pay gap report

Deputy Opposition Leader Sussan Ley seems to be “clueless” about why the gender pay gap report is “flawed”, says Sky News host Rita Panahi.
A report has revealed the top companies with the worst gender pay gaps in Australia.
Ms Panahi said the report “should not be taken seriously”.
“Segments of the media failed to spot the massive holes in this report.
“And more cracks are appearing in the workplace gender equality agency’s ranking of the best and worst companies to work for in terms of gender pay equality.”

According to this report if a man and woman earn the same pay rate per hour but the woman works less hours that's gender pay gap,ridiculous. Tell us which jobs women get paid less than men for the same tasks.

There aren't any. Any woman who can prove that she gets paid less per hour than her male counterpart for doing exactly the same job can sue for discrimination. I haven't seen or heard of any cases being brought to court for that for years!

There is no 'Pay' gap. There is an 'Earnings' gap. Because Men predominantly do the Dirty, Dangerous and Difficult jobs, that pay a premium. This in addition to the statistical fact that Men work longer hours and take less time off. If women want to 'Earn' as much, on average, as Men, on average, they must also work, on average, as many hours in as many difficult dangerous and dirty jobs, as men. Women are always complaining they don't have equal amounts of positions of power and influence, but rarely do they complain about the dearth of women on oil rigs, fishing boats, or down mines...

gender pay gap is due to personal choices and not sexism... so do they want to force women to work longer hours in professions that they dont want to do? because thats the only way to fairly close the earnings gap. in my discussions with feminists on this issue, it appears that they want women to be paid more than men. because they keep bring up unpaid work... but my argument is no one is forcing you to do unpaid work, thats a choice... if a man chooses to do unpaid work he too earns less...

Isn’t what she said about companies supporting woman in your organisation discrimination? You can’t discriminate by sex, religion, beliefs, race etc. Companies employ on qualifications and experience apparently not any of the above? Seems the report didn’t have any of these in it, ie nurse to surgeon what’s higher risk, ask the insurance company? Just so happens 99% of men apply for the dangerous, high risk and crap jobs (sewerage workers) which pay more due to inherent risk.
