I logged for years for Pic River Forest Products . Our Mill was in Marathon (which they tore down five years ago). It was the best job in the world! Outside ..fresh air and hard work. I lived in camp for 8 years and saved my money because camp was only $1.75 per day. I moved to Manitouwadge and bought a mobile home. I had my own room in camp and there was a laundry facility, a rec facility to play shuffleboard and pool or watch satellite T.V. and the food there was excellent or the men didn't stay!The place was kept very clean too. I left Manitouwadge in 1998 no more logging they closed the mill. I miss those days. I guess I have become used to the city life now as it has been 22 years now but I still miss my old logging days and the life up north. I guess I find change hard as I wished things could stay the same but life moves on . Thank You for the video and it brought back some good memories and to comment...Our REFORESTATION PROGRAM way back when was very good for those times as mostly University students came onto our logging limits and planted trees for roughly 4 months and they had a ministry camp at Ramsey Lake where they all stayed and ate. They made enough money planting trees $200.00 per day to pay for their tuition. So our Forests were managed really well and we all cooperate with the M.N.R. cheers!
