Great looking watch but is in need of an update. Bought one two weeks ago and returned it the next day. Sunnto needs to update the display visibility. Just to dark to see it. Especially with older eyes. Has to be at the right angle for the display to really come through clearly. The contrast adjustment does very little to nothing to help.

You can get both the watch strap loop and the watch strap replacement from ebay or aliexpress. Just make sure if you decide to get the strap replacement, it comes with a guarantee that it would fit the watch perfectly. I have the Suunto core black version. Visibility is an issue when I am in a dim room. If I were wearing a sunglasses outside, I would have problems reading the time as well. Have you look at the Casio g-shock mudmaster?

At 7.5 years, how could you NOT go with another Suunto? I am hard on watches, and I’ve never got 7.5 years from a watch. I’m looking at getting a Suunto as my next watch. With a 7.5 year life, I’m sold.

For clarification...5 buddies of mine bought the same watch within a month or so 7.5 years back...all of which had thier Suunto Core die about the same time ...maybe a shelf/life life of some sort? Lol

sounds about right 7 years? not bad for a tough EDC type wrist watch it's not a ROLEX, or an Omega, or a Citizen or a Seiko... so 7 years for a good daily timepiece that stands up to Police Work and outdoorsy type Military applications is a decent watch and it's rugged looks and stylish all black design add to the Mystique.

Strap breakage....short battery life......sounds like a high maintenance watch in the end........gonna go with a G-Shock. Thank you for talking me OUT of buying the Suunto 👍⌚️

Don't get me wrong....the suunto is a fine watch and as far as fancy looking....it wins...but a backup watch needed? Lol

I own a Citizen Divemaster ii which is also Solar powered and it's been my "GO TO WAR" Watch for over ten years. it so far only need's new Wrist band's as the other ones eventually crack etc with daily wear. but again it seems i need another wrist band so meantime i saw this Suunto with digital compass and Alti/ Baro and Digital light up and large Numbers for my eye's that are getting just a lil tired and could use the ease of the big digital display... i still own and WILL ALWAYS own my Divemaster ii solar powered watch that tell's me my depth in real time as a P.A.D.I. diver i do need that feature.. but now as a E.D.C./ Daily driver i am interested in a new watch and this suunto looks like it's gonna be the winner. i got Lucky and found it online for only 97$ and am happy to have it at that Low price. it would be excellent if they eventually offer a solar powered version so that you wont have to worry about battery life and etc.. but meanwhile nice hardware and good video.. i will be sporting a new one soon... thanks for the informative video...

I ended up with the Suunto Alpha , or something like that, I've done some videos on it...love the watch and most of the features...BUT.... IF SUUNTO would update the Core with some modern features...I would buy it again hands down... even with the battery changes...because the charging crap sucks on the new Suunto i got.....

Correct, seven and a half years is pretty damn good especially for a really good looking watch that you can wear and more than just one occasion! You can wear this watch to dinner you will look good wearing this watch probably under a suit

Lol "having a disturbance of some sort with another person". This and most G-Shocks have a high disturbance resistance rating.

The screw on band really helps... I have the Alpha now, and it does not have this function...which lowers the "disturbance " issue....too much.... they need to update this watch with some newer features, and I'll buy again for sure!

Know if suunto had a watch that was solar that looks like the suunto core I would buy it every time it broke I'd buy a new one

No, I didn't have any issues with the negative display... maybe in low light conditions where you could see a regular display i might have had to hit the light button...but I like the negitive display.. I bought the new asuunto traverse alpha where I can switch displays, switch light colors etc...and I still keep the negative display... I am sure it probably eats battery life.... but I like it

My G-Shock battery last longer than this. My Suunto Core already needed 2 battery changes and the buttons get stuck after a few years. 😑

Never had issues with buttons getting stuck....but the UPS man that comes into my office has had his get stuck.... not heard of it before....
