Excellent ideas. I've been planning on using my 2005 Suburban for a trip across the country, and thought I'd camp in it instead of staying in hotels. I'm definitely going to try the 17 gallon bins.

Thanks for an extremely informative and entertaining Channel. So much of what you say about the Suburban applies to my 07 Classic Silverado with cap. So much of your general camping and organizing information is great. Thank you!

Have looked into a driver protection cage wall behind your drivers seat? God forbid you’re ever in a traffic accident, if that heavy stuff hits you.
@SuburbanCamping3 жыл бұрын
Very good point! I will make this point on the safety page on my website. I currently use ratcheting cargo bars behind the driver seat, but they are not permanently connected, so I will research a solution.

Have you ever gotten pulled over because your license plate is blocked by the rack? I have so I always move the plate to the rack.

There is a photo of your back hatch open with the hitch cargo carrier attached. There doesnt seem to be enough room for the hatch to open with the carrier attached. Please advise.
@SuburbanCamping2 жыл бұрын
Hello Marvin. Correct, you need to fold the hitch cargo carrier down to open and close the hatch. Sometimes, I leave it up with the hatch open as I use the cargo carrier as a kitchen.

@ 7:31 you mentioned using your rear window as an exit... I have a 2002 GMC Yukon and have yet to figure how to open the hatch or window from the inside 🤔
@SuburbanCamping3 жыл бұрын
Hello KN. Thanks for the comment. There is no latch to open the rear hatch from the inside - not sure how they got away with that when it comes to safety standards! So, I always keep the rear window popped and propped and I will either go out the window, or lean out the window and open the rear hatch. I usually just place a rag over the latch, so it can't fully close. There is a hack where you can cut a hole to make a latch on the inside, but I don't plan on doing that.

What's the Suburban's gas/gal mileage? Thanks.
@SuburbanCamping2 жыл бұрын
Well, I have always been afraid to calculate it! I believe it is probably 15-18 miles per gallon. Let's just say I have another more economical vehicle to drive when I am not out exploring and camping! Thanks for the question!
