Flash forward to Foul Detective Satori, Kaguya (who has been repeatedly going outside the house of eternity) is revealed to be possessed so her host can spread their influence. Mizuchi reveals herself for the first time when Mokou confronts the possessed Kaguya (and fails miserably)

As a long time Meiling fan, I must admit that she is probably the "least popular" of the (properly named) characters in EoSD, but considering how incredibly popular EoSD is compared to the rest, that still works out to her being one of the most iconic and recognisable characters in the series. Still, as EoSD grows older and older and newer fans get into the series through different means than us late 00s/very early 2010s fans did, I feel like people that are fans of the EoSD cast in particular, especially the characters that "mostly" stayed in that game in comparison to the rest like Meiling and Patchouli, are going to get increasingly rarer. The way I see it, strictly Meiling fans back in the 00s were a relative rarity and most of her popularity stemmed from her being associated with the two most popular games in the series (EoSD and Soku) and how many people were "fonder than average" of her because of it. I really don't believe that the overall negative way fandom used to depicted her helped the character at all, especially with how embarrassingly recent people started shying away from the less savoury early fandom interpretations of a lot of characters, Meiling included. Nowadays, I feel like most people that seem to genuinely like the character as one of their favourites like her either due to the uniqueness of her being the only openly Chinese character in the series or her association with Lost Word, as you said, but also people who like "big women" in general... you know, those people that like women that are tall, or muscly, or sisterly/motherly, which Meiling ticks all the boxes.

I am a huge Mokou fan, have been for more than 10 years. Never thought Mokou and Kaguya are cute together, not in a traditional way, at least. If anything in a complete hate/love relationship. Also, I am disappointed by how little you had to say about Mokou. Personally, I feel like Mokou fans like her on an entirely different level as any other character. A way where it's not “I like this character“, but “I legitimatly love this character.“ Bordering on a psychotic, yet utterly loyal love. Mokou stans usually have no other waifu, I sometimes feel like. It is Mokou or bust. I must know, I am exactly like that. And yet most Mokou fans tend to be loners, soft spoken or generally not that interested in making small talk. Where the Eiki stan is the beaurocrat of a server the Mokou stan is usually the Diogenes.

I absolutely adore Kaguya's design, personality, and theme. Actually, her theme is one of the first touhou tracks I listened to in my life, either arrange or the original. When I clicked on that theme song and saw how pretty Kaguya was, and just how fantastic her theme was... Well let's just say I'm a Kaguya fan till the end. As for my thoughts on Mokou... she's pretty cool. For Mokou fans however... well one of my close friends is one. He's what I imagine Mokou would be like if she really existed. Me, him, and another close friend of mine (who's an Eirin and Keine fan, go figure) sometimes get into arguments with each other. It's usually me and the Eirin fan against the Mokou fan funnily enough. Though sometimes THEY gang up on me instead. He's recently mellowed out though, and we all get along well now, rarely getting into any actual arguments and just having fun.

i'm one of those fans that joined late to the party (in 2020) but want to consider myself a 2010 fan. i exclusively love binging old touhou doujins my favorites being karaagetarou's and happy flame time's works. my favorite games are the 9-10-11 era including their amazing soundtracks and i'm very fond of SA especially. not sure what it is but their cast just hits that sweet spot for me. oh can i also add that i used to be a big tf2 player since 2014 which is what ultimately led me to touhou through various parodies like philip onbread's month first series and yet... it took me literal years to even find out about touhou. it's hidden yet omnipresent i mean heck even the guinness records say touhou is the most widespread internet community

Medicine Melancholy is the single most Underrated character in the series by far, there are some Japanese artists who prioritize her over other characters, which is Nice, considering how little screen time she gets in the series and even in Fangames/Printworks (mainly those made by the Western Community) also Medicine is really powerful she is a Worldwide treath to the Human race, don't underestimate her for being a doll, controlling Poison, the fragrance of death is a big deal (You are not immune to Poison) it is so deadly that it is forbidden in Wars, do you get it? Poison is something humans as well as any living thing should avoid at any cost, thus Medicine is extremely powerful and Definitively stronger than Reimu (She defeats Reimu in PoFV) There's also her Goofy side, she will explain her ideals to humans before attacking them, does she really hates humans? if yes then she is very straightfoward, All Youkai depend on human fear to exist, but a lot of Youkai are kinda simpatic with humans, Medicine is not. She is the perfect character for Fanworks, why she is so Underrated? It's because of PoFV's Low Popularity compared to other games? Or is Medicine just too Scary? She is a Character who can have multiple Personalities in Fanworks, she can either be Simple-minded, Melancholic, Agressive, Idealistic some fans portray her as straight-up Racist. Thou i have a Theory, Medicine got overshadowed by the other characters, during an Considerable "Peak" in the Touhou community (2005 - 2010) The golden age for Memes and idiocy, Most Touhou characters got a shit ton of Memes during this period, Examples are Cirno's 9 Ball, Komachi slacking-off, Night of Nights, IOSYS Songs and memes... Medicine's last relevant appearace was in 2009 (Grimorie of Marisa) But not everything is lost, a Lot of people come to appreciate Medicine because of Lost Word, tbh i don't like this game, only played during a short period of time due to Medicine being on the Game. (even though Flandre has the same thing in 17.5) Speaking of Flandre, I've noticed they have similarities. Medicines personality is more like fannon Flandre than Flandre to herself. A young Youkai, with a deadly personality and incredible incontrollable power. Unfortunately Medicine is a doll, so she doesn't have that popularity a vampire might have, and no eye catching visuals either.

Mokou's one of my favorites characters, and I find weird to ship her with Kaguya. Don't she, like, hate her ? I mean, if you really want to ship Mokou, why not ship her with, I dunno, Keine. Keine tried to protect Mokou from the protagonist in IN extra, so that would make more sense at least. (This is just my opinion, please don't be offended if you're a Mokou-Kaguya shipper.)

I personally have the headcanon that, while Mokou likes Keine a lot and would like to be with her she's terrified of the inevitable fact that Keine will die. While I don't ship Mokou and Kaguya (per se; I hate the term shipping anyways), I think it would ironically be the most logical connection. Both will be around forever and hate is not necessarily the opposite of love. Kaguya is the only person Mokou could be with who wouldn't leave her with an eternity of heartbreak.

I just felt like i needed to comment on this. Reisen is my favorite character for a lot of reasons, it really felt like the stars aligned for me to like Reisen. (Also, just for a comparison, my first "favorite" character was Yuyuko because of her food jokes on IN.) First of all, on the games, Reisen was the first boss that made me move forward instead of sticking my butt to the end of the screen. If i was not for Reisen boss fight, i would not be confident enough to get closer to the boss. Nowadays i can even beat some of the older Touhous (Which are better in my opinion) on the Hard difficulty, and i have a lot to thank for Reisen boss fight. She also happens the be a character in my favorite Touhou which is IN. I love the Space and i freaking love the pianos in this game. While i do not particularly find her theme to be the best, the OST from this game is by far my favorite. As for her style, i always loved a bit more formal clothing like her suit and skirt, and i usually always wore suits on my characters when i had the option in games. I also freaking love long hair and i have a freaking long hair myself (Some people think i'm a girl from a bit afar lol). Now talking about Reisen personality, that's where things really shine, specially with Tewi. I have a little sister, and Reisen and Tewi interactions reminds me so much of me and my little sister. Of course Tewi is a bit more troll and brutal with Reisen than my sister is with me, but it still feels so familiar to me. I have read Inaba of the Moon and Inaba of the Earth (The one and only time i ever read a Manga) and Reisen and Tewi there just feels at home for me. My little sister's favorite Touhou character is Tewi for this very reason, and she doesn't even know much of Touhou. -Reisen is also overworked and has big fear of disappointing her superiors. Sounds a lot like Reisen and sounds a lot like me... -Reisen also had to deal with a lot of shit while still having to be the sane one. Sounds a lot like Reisen and sounds a lot like me... Sincerely, Reisen has always felt like she was written entirely to be represent me and my life, even if a bit more exaggerated, of course, that it was simply impossible for me not to love Reisen's character. Though I have nothing to do with the whole rabbit thing.

That's funny. I'm an Aya fan and don't meet one of the items listed. I just started Touhou about 7 or 8 months ago as a complete noob. I came from a being survival horror gamer who hadn't played a SHMUP since my Sega Genesis. The first game I played was MoF and I hadn't joined any community at that time so the first 3 months of me playing Touhou was just figuring it out on my own. The first obstacle I faced was Aya. I hit a wall with Aya. I spent all my free time trying to take down Aya. I didn't even know about Tprac, so for me it was perfecting my run so I have enough lives for Aya to take. I almost gave up and thought I'd never be good enough to continue this experiment, so when I finally did take her down and started to do it consistently it felt like it was my first great achievement and inspired me to continue my quest to learn this new and alien genre. That's it, because my victory against Aya I didn't give up and I'm currently working on learning a Hard 1CC Mof. Yesterday I was dared to capture PWG on Lunatic and after a little over 2 hours I did. I'm still a noob, but I love Aya because she made me a better player and I bought a figure of her that sits behind my desk.

Suika - Yep I will never let go of these jokes. Aaaaand I kinda had better luck with the fighting games than the shooters, but not without trying of course. Not a big Suika fan but she is fun. Tewi - I never understood why people can't grasp that wi is a forgotten phoneme in Japanese and they should be pronouncing it Tewi if they're speaking a language that doesn't have this limitation, as her name is intentionally written that way. Mokou - I like Mokou, but rather than shipping her with Kaguya, I just like to make fun of their feud. I think your stereotypes are pretty strange there pal Tewi fans: I’m fairly certain the last one I met was straight up Osama Bin Laden Reisen fans: War Veterans Eirin fans: that is I! I like Eirin, an Eirin fan you could say. The reason is Eirin is one of the few genuinely well written and human feeling characters in the series. Kaguya fans: genuinely well written and human feeling character, can’t say much else since I’ve yet to meet someone who’s favorite is the ex-lunar princess.

I fell called out, Mokou was my favorite Touhou character at one point and Mokou x Kaguya is one of the best Touhou ships (up there with Reisen x Youmu and Reimu x Marisa). Reisen is my favorite now though, I love rabbits lol.

Am i the only komachi fan in this comment section? 😢 I like her because i love her design and fighting style. + Scythes are awesome. Playing the extra stage in pofv so much in order to beat it gave me brainrot from trying any other character due to how different she plays, but she's still so fun to play. Same with soku, although i suck at that game, komach has really fun attacks to do. Not to mention komachi's theme is amazing and top tier. I am really sad komachi isnt so popular in the community.

As a Rin Satsuki fan,i can say that people that like her are uncertain. On one side they will be the most chill and quiet people you will ever find. They will most likely make fan art of her being happy around the rest of the Touhou cast like she supposed to be. (They will also joke about her being a Gaster of Touhou nonstop,and tell you about their vision towards her. And fanfics...) On the other side,there's people that like her for the *Creepypasta* aesthetic and make her as depressed and creepy as possible on fan art or discussions,and hoping that she's going to eventually be added in atleast some kind of form in the future Touhou games. (Which is unlikely,considering that there was no mention about her from ZUN or his team for *21 years* now.) They also might be both sides (me). Yeah,that's it.
