I've just listened to all of her albums on Spotify, which has confirmed for me that she is one the best singer-songwriters of her generation, both melodically and lyrically.

Wow....Luka and Tom's diner don't even begin to scratch the surface of her talent....she's such a deep and interesting person, very spiritual and insightful. I can't believe these interviewers couldn't find anything better to ask her about.

Moronic interview, but Suzanne Vega has done hundreds of them, and she knows that the exposure is good. I've always been a huge fan of her magical lyrics and melodies. Hope to catch one of her shows again.

Yes, Luka was huge, but that was in 1987 and Suzanne has released 6 albums since then! Why not ask pertinent questions about the new album, and the tour? Nobody cares about what time last night's show ended!

I agree. The interviewer said EARLY 1980s. Like get your facts right!
@youjoker964710 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with the interview. It's a breakfast tv show, not a dedicated music show. The 80's were the time she made her name so it was pertinent to mention what was her most successful period. They DID mention the new album & the link to the past regarding Lukas story. Always some 'fan' whinging. Pathetic.

So glad to see her. Suzanne, you are an amazing talent. One of these low key, understated talents.
@garydunn303710 жыл бұрын
Almost 30 years ago Suzanne gained worldwide notoriety with "Luka" and "Tom's Diner" However, since then, Suzanne has made quite a few really good songs, that for some reason, never reached the air-waves. I sent the BBC her last two studio albums, but they never got played. These days, if the artist is not backed by some mega bucked label, then they just don't get any recognition for their work. Bring back the DJ's of yesteryear who gave the independent singer/songwriters a chance to be heard.
@Maguirearch2 жыл бұрын
She's quite a quirky type of musician....as talented as she is. her appeal may be limited. As most people aren't really that deep thinking with pop/rock music
@garydunn30372 жыл бұрын
@@Maguirearch Most music today is very shallow and repetative. I've seen Suzanne "Live" twice and I love the stories she tells between her songs, and how they came about. In fact most of her songs are about her life experiences. She has a wonderful voice, coupled with her acoustic style. I never tire of listening to her.

So, the interview is absolutely shallow. Suzanne was waiting for the real questions and the only one worth it came as they were closing the segment and she didn't have time to answer. Poor Suzanne, having to answer questions from people who knew about here the moment they shook hands.

I totally agree with you, they spent too much time talking about her earlier stuff from the 1980's in total ignorance of the great music Suzanne has made in the intervening years. I have followed her from those early years, have all her albums, and seen her Live twice. She is such a talented artist, who deserves more recognition.

Slightly awkward interview. Suzanne looks a little uncomfortable with the initial closed questions. There is great depth to her, but the interviewers have failed to tease this out by talking too much themselves. Great respect to Suzanne.

I can see in her eyes that she is, quite rightly, longing for the days when Howard Stern was interviewing her. His interviews are challenging mentally as they are not solely based on promoting the artist's music but definitely more fun for interviewer, interviewee and the audience.

A few months ago I saw her play live in London -her voice (which is the most important thing-along with her great songs) sounded virtually the same as when I first saw her thirty years ago.
