"The Tom Diner" (Acapella) was used by Karlheinz Brandenburg to develop the audio compression scheme known as MP3 (Fraunhofer Society). "I was ready to fine-tune my compression algorithm ... somewhere down the aisle, a radio was playing 'The Diner Tom.' I knew it would be almost impossible to compress this 'hot' voice as a variety of materials critically analyzed was involved in codec design for many years without success "...? In a documentary (2009) on music history made by TV SVT (Swedish), Brandenburg said he was "finishing the doctoral thesis when he discovered that they used this song to test speakers" ... Adopted music for testing purposes, was heard again and again to the refinement of the scheme, ensuring itself that nothing would adversely affect the subtlety of Vega voice. ? And the result was that "in bit rates, where everything looked nice, the voice of Suzanne Vega sounded horrible." While the MP3 compression format is not set specifically to play the song "The Tom Diner" was not finished. Among audio engineers this story won the informal title ... "Vega - the mother of MP3". ;)

I prefer this version to the version that is played on the radio all the time that has the drum machine or whatever it is. The DNA? Version? I thought I was going crazy because I always hear the other version on the radio and not this one.

+General Skunk (The Weirdo) you're being a complete jerk to this guy. I'm just using the little things to call you out. I really can't stand onision, he made a rant on how women are treated bad because white men are ruling the world

I think artistically its there to differentiate between what is happening in the present of the song and a memory of someone in the past.
