I was at one of the 10 concerts that Neil Diamond did at the Greek Theatre in 1972! It was my first ND concert and I remember sitting there during the Prologue trying to process what was happening! At one point I looked at my wife and jokingly asked" are you sure we're in the right place"? As the music built to a climax and the acoustic guitar kicked in I looked at my wife again and said, " here we go "! The stage doors opened, red smoke spilled out, and a full orchestra and band became visible! Neil Diamond then cooley strolled out, picked up his guitar and proceeded to sing 'Crunchy Granola Suite'! The Prologue is the greatest introduction to the greatest concert of all time, and one that I will never forget...

My father kept me immersed in Neil Diamond's music during my formative years (and beyond). After dad committed suicide, Neil is who I have to bring memories of Dad. Dad when he was at his best... Listening to Neil, soaking in the magic. No yelling, no hitting, no throwing, just joy. Neil Diamond, in some way, may have saved my life. Somehow, I feel like he was a member of our family. Much of our family life revolved around Neil Diamond's music. We had an exceptionally large stereo system for that day in age, and we would listen to Neil at 120 db +. So would the neighbors... by default. : )

Yo tenía 6 añitos cuando oí esto, hace 50 años, siempre he considerado que es la mejor obertura de un concierto. Que tristeza que nunca vino a Chile, pero la música siempre estará para deleitarnos.

This music was my first major skating programme. It still moves me 50 (OMG) years later. I spent a lot of years on the ice, this one is still my fave.

I binged this double album when my brother brought it home. Great opening and Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show/I Am, I Said was the best closer.

I too played this album over and over. Singing into my hairbrush and dancing in my mother’s living room!

dadadruma ND wrote the lyric as "think you're growing your own WEED", but the early 70's was anti pot. Later years! You can hear Neil on live concerts singing WEED.

It was 40 years back that I heard this wonderful song. I found it now purely by chance.... Thanks you tube. Without any doubt : this still gives me goosebumps. Fantastic.....For the Belgian and Dutch people, this was the Radio Veronica tune (1974) in the version of Percy Faith. Those were the days......

I recently heard the studio recording of this song for the very first time. This concert version sounds so much better than the studio recording. I never ever thought that I would be saying that about a live concert version of any song.

Love him or hate him, the one thing Diamond excelled in was putting together super tight live bands. So really you are getting a reworked studio quality version of the song. Chery Cherry is another song live that is a step above the studio version.

Neil has been, will, & always will be my # 1. I have every album of his. Ops, just remembered I gave all the albums to my wonderful granddaughter Julia, but not before I had recorded them onto C/D's. Ha ,Ha!

Ever have a song stuck in your head? This one, all day. I figured my brain was telling me I needed to hear some Neil Diamond. So I played, love it, still makes me want to dance. Thanks Neil, for the beautiful and heartwarming memories!!

When I was young we relied on my brother to buy good albums. He brought this one and us kids loved it.

This song was used as an intro for Australian radio station 1116 SEN's "Morning Glory" podcast during 2011.
