Turn the explosion into a quick electric shock, make the time randomise every time it turns on, and now you got a very interesting game of hot potato. Nobody knows when it'll give you a shock, and they can either pass the "bomb" or hold it till the last sign of explosion to make sure it doesn't explode on their hand. Sounds like a fun party game to me.
