Awesome shortcut cut man, I have to do mine tomorrow, last time I worked out how to do it without removing the manifold but this is next level! Thanks for sharing your mind.

Nice video and nice catch on pump polarity! I have heard others mention this . I think it depends on the pump supplier.

Sorry I didn’t see this sooner. Amazon is where I got the parts this time around. You’re spot on, I’m on the west coast of FL. Airboats are real popular around here. Thank you for your kind words.

How many hours did you have on motor when you changed this. I have a 140 hp suzuki. It's bogging out at full throttle and sometimes trying to get going has no power. I'm lost at what it could be. I'm thinking fuel issue. 2019 140hp with only 40 hrs
@skunkapegarage5 ай бұрын
This one originally had similar issues to what you describe. The motor had less than 50 hours, but sat for a very long time. The issue was that moisture entered the fuel system, and the fuel filter/water separator rusted internally. When it was finally started and ran, rust particles, water, and bad fuel entered the works and clogged everything up.

Already? It’s a 2009 motor

It was 14 years old, plus when I bought the boat the gas tank and fuel lines had water in them, so I’m sure that played a part. My 2008 Yamaha 90 needed one a couple of years ago too, so I’d say it’s probably not that unusual.

what did I just watch?? NOOOOO. just take the time and take it apart properly. it only takes another 10min SMH. I've been a marine tack for many years and possibly the best tech in MI and my head hurts now. the marina Im at now is a Suzuki dealer and we are sending one of the employees to Suzuki for training and this video is going with her.

Thanks for your comment. While I would agree with you in maybe most circumstances, keep in mind that not every situation is the same. For instance, say someone just had service performed that involved replacing the intake gaskets and injector o-rings, and then had a fuel pump failure. Or, say they had a premature pump failure due to water in fuel or contaminated gas or filter failure, after already replacing it and all other gaskets and o-rings recently, and none of it is covered under warranty. It’s easy to say just do all the things when you’re spending someone else’s money. There may be a case occasionally where someone could save someone parts and labor costs or maybe save themselves the cost. I by no means promote techs to cut corners when they should be replacing normal wear parts or performing maintenance at recommended intervals. I do promote not being the guy to throw the book at the customer when they don’t really need it. I’m sure if you’re the best tech in MI, you understand what I’m saying.

nope. everything you just said makes no sense. you do the job correctly or don't do it at all @@skunkapegarage

The job was completed to the satisfaction of the customer, without damage caused or additional or unnecessary costs incurred. Everyone went home happy that day and is still happy with the job done today. We can agree to disagree, sir. Feel free to send your rejected work my way, I’ll be happy to at least try to help people out.

im about to change my high pressure pump on my df140 i was told you have to take the inlet manifold off this was from a suzuki dealer just goes to show can you get at the regulator at the same time parts that im changing H /P pump H/P Filter H/P Regulator regards Alain
@skunkapegarage Жыл бұрын
The filter and pump are pretty easy, as they can be changed the way I did in this video. The regulator though is at the bottom of the VST and would require removal of that unit. I haven’t tried yet, but I’ve heard you can remove the VST completely using crows foot wrenches in between the intake manifold runners. I guess it just depends on your situation. If you’re digging that deep into it, you’ll have to decide if R&R of the intake and replacing all the gaskets etc along the way is best for you in the long run. The official “by the book” method is always recommended, of course. Boats.net is a great resource for exploded diagrams and parts listings to help you figure out what you need, or don’t need, along the way.
