Notice the tilt and trim. Suzuki made them for Johnson Evinrude. I got super sport running a few years ago. Its a good running motor still a bit strange with the two spark plugs per cylinder.

Your videos are the greatest thing on the internet. I have an 88 Johnson’s 140 Looper, but I watch all your stuff start to finish. So well done.

All 4 cylinder DTs parts are interchangeable. Only the carbs are different. Plenty of used and after market parts available. Really good motors. I have a 1988 DT140

wrong! this is the pre- IC ignition. yours is an IC ignition. all digital. actually not much use anyway as those parts are still hard to find. or are you saying you are getting lucky on ebay>?

Brandon nice video and I like the camera close ups. What a shame that you can’t get parts for what could be an engine with years of life left. Check you next time.

That’s gotta be the first outboard I’ve ever seen that really could use an air filter.

It’s all fun and games unit you try to source a TPS sensor on the middle carb. Discontinued Suzuki part and they don’t make aftermarket’s

Time to fire up Fusion, the 3d printer, and search Mouser/DigiKey for the electronic part!

Brandon, love your videos. I would like to get your opinion on my old 1987 88hp Evinrude v4 crossflow (freshwater use). I was doing my annual maintenance and went to replace the spark plugs. I am using champion QL77JC4. My manual states the spark plug gap should be .040. I recently read on the web that Evinrude changed their gap suggestion to .030 in the early 90s to make plugs last longer. That seems like a big change to me. I am thinking I may split the difference and gap my new plugs to .035. What is your opinion? Thank You.

I read somewhere that Suzuki have distanced themselves from their 2 stroke models. Likely an environmental marketing angle. They are also apparently offering very generous trade ins, for owners moving from 2 to 4 strokes (and destroying the old motors!) 😳

I had a conversation with a friend when I was working on his powersports equipment for the 37th time. I told him "...and that requires a special tool I don't have". His response: "Special tool? There's no such thing." and I tried to explain to him Brandon's OMC special tool wall with boards to hang them up on, outlines, part numbers, etc. He looked at me like I was an alien. He genuinely had never heard of such a thing, lol.

Where's a good place to ask you questions about diagnosing an issue on my Johnson 70? I don't want to take over your comments with something irrelevant to the video.

Those Suzuki motors aren’t very good. I would love to see you work on a Yamaha 2 stroke and share your opinion on them. I personally prefer them over Evinrude/Johnson

Suzuki is a quality manufacturer but asking for parts on a 45 year-old engine is pushing your luck. One might turn to Europe (or Japan if you can read Japanese) as Suzuki was (and still is) quite popular on the Old Continent. Mind you, you will meet about the same parts availability challenge on US-built Mercury engines !
