LAUNCHING IN INDIA?
The quarter-liter segment is becoming really hot in India and every motorcycle manufacturer is jumping into this segment. The most recent editions being KTM’s Duke 250 and Yamaha’s FZ25.
This segment has shown considerable amount of growth in recent years and every major two-wheeler manufacturer is having at least one bike in this space.
The next generation of Suzuki’s GSX250R is already on the way. But in India we might have to stick with the current version. Since Indian market is a very price sensitive market, Suzuki will launch it with competitive pricing just like what Yamaha did with its R15 V3.
As revealed by Suzuki few months back that they are now aiming their focus into more premium segment in India and intends to launch two products from such segment every year. So, by this statement there’s a good change that Suzuki will launch the GSX250R sooner than expected.
As per the rumors the Gixxer 250R is expected to launch in the coming festive season.
The Gixxer 250R takes its inspiration from its elder sibling the GSX-R1000. The bike gets bigger fairing, sculpted fuel tank, split seats, LED headlight and tail light and ABS; which will be standard.
This aggressive yet aerodynamic bike has been launched in many countries like UK, Japan and China.
The price of the new GSX-250R is expected to be somewhere around Rs. 2.5 Lakh ex-showroom.
This bike can be a great touring companion also with its raised clip-on handlebars, center set foot pegs for relaxed riding and a taller windscreen that provides better wind protection against wind blast at highways.
The full digital instrument console displays speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge, gear position indicator, trip meters, service reminder, oil change reminder, clock and a real time fuel consumption meter.
Currently, it has not yet been confirmed that the bike will come via a CKD route or will be locally manufactured.
The bike uses Inazuma frame, suspension and engine which was priced much higher here in India and that was the reason it couldn’t fetch enough sales.
Coming to engine, GSX-250R is powered by fuel-injected liquid-cooled parallel-twin 248cc DOHC 4-valve engine that pumps out 25PS of maximum power at 8,000rpm and 23.3Nm of maximum torque at 6,500rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
The bike features 37mm front Kayaba telescopic suspension and a single adjustable Kayaba monoshock suspension at rear. The braking duty is done by front 290mm single disc with Nissin two piston calipers and 240mm rear single disc with Nissin single piston caliper.
The fuel tank capacity is of 15 liters. While the ground clearance and saddle height is of 160mm and 790mm respectively.
The front tyre is of 17inch with 110 section tyre and rear tyre size is of 17inch with 140 section tyre.
The new Gixxer is available in three different colour schemes - Black, White and MotoGP blue edition. The bike will compete with the likes of Honda CBR 250R, Yamaha Fazer 25 and KTM RC 200.
