Owned a 1981 model back in 1986 just after passing my test, before being stupid enough to sell it to help my pay insurance for my new GPZ. Fitted some Microns, Hi tech reeds, K @ N's, two four seat, Pirelli tyres, steering damper and Koni shocks. Had far more fun on the X7, than any 4 stroke I owned later on. Would perhaps be worth more today also. Great memories. The only downside were the pegs as they dug in once as I was trying to beat a GSXR 1100 going round an island. He was good enough to stop and see if I was OK and he became a good buddy!

I remember being swayed towards an RD 250 but then one of the lads copped it on one, so I diverted my gaze & went for an X7...then one of the lads copped it on a Red one like mine! It slowed me down for a while , but I can’t remember being as excited by a motorcycle as much as the X7!!Recently spotted one at dealership & realised that they now have cult status 😎 One day maybe I’ll acquire another 👍

Looks a great day, wanted to do this on my X7 but dates clashed. Done any others? Are you doing the Bike shed festival at Lydden? Its in October ...

Pity due to stupid emissions regs that great two stroke bikes like these and rd Yamahas have all but vanished off roads now. Diesels turn now yet they are more economical and could be made cleaner running as could 2 stroke.

Yes totally agree. Just glad I had a bike back in the '80's. No wonder there are so few new riders these days. Used to be in a group of about 20 or more from a GP100 right up to a Laverda Jota, Katana, and a Harris Magnum. I had an X7, my cousin an RD250 with 350B barrels and I also rode my mate's 350 LC. Great days.
