Hey my young friend, I rode one of those Suzuki 550 triples back in the day( early 80s) they were quick! New style tires are a must! Gear position indicator was a Suzuki trade mark!!

Yes ! New tyres. I sold my Gt550 because it drank more than a sailor that hasn’t seen land for 6 months. Just remember - the oil feed works parallel to the throttle! eg; the engine is doing 5000rpm on a closed throttle means it’s getting a supply of oil that’s just sufficient for tick-over. Please think about this. With the engine and ignition turned off you can set the oil-pump setting and you will see after having removed the oil-pump cover what happens when you open and close the throttle. Best wishes from Düsseldorf Sher 😉

My Army buddy in the mid 1970s had a Suzuki 380 triple. It was a nice bike, especially with it's Vetter Windjammer frame mounted fairing. I owned a Suzuki 500 Titan twin two stroke. I would love to have any 70s Suzuki two stroke again. Barn finds are rare.

Just bought a 1973 GT550 identical to this bike except in Orange. It needs a resto and it’s rough and not running but it doesn’t seem to be to far off from running. Will have the crank rebuilt and new seals installed and polish the engine for starters. No idea what the transmission condition is but I’m hoping for the best. I will love this bike and always wanted Suzuki triple.

He said "take it easy". I had the front wheel of the ground with in the first 100m or so. 😅 He didn't say a word when i handed it back to him... i do remember my hands shaking like mad and having trouble climbing off it... 😎

I had a GT550A, the version with twin discs & SRIS. It took corners like a drunk carthorse on roller blades. DO NOT EVER SHUT THE THROTTE OR EVEN LIGHTLY TOUCH THE BRAKESS MID CORNER ON A GT550, because the bike will sit up and force the steering straight!! This is mainly due to the flexible frame and swingarm (I had a Dresda box section swingarm installed on my GT550A to save on underwear cleaning bills). .
@GoldGuyRides7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the tip, I will remember that. I can't spare any underwear.

Back in the 1970s l owned a GT380 and after 4iding it for a while traded it for a GT750 and did several long trips on the GT750 put 100000 kilometres on it in three years and lrode it everywhere Adelaide Melbourne and my best memory was cruising at 160 kph 100 mph for you yanks across the Hay Plains also the Suzuki GT550 would have inner tubes because of the spoked wheels and my GT380 had the digital gear indicator and they were not dangerous to ride if rode correctly they weren't death traps stop reving the guts out of it mechanical sympathy goes a long way and what's this obsession with smoking the rear tyre l probably was your age when l rode my Suzuki GTs and l never smoked the tyres and ruden properly they can be a lot of fun not ridden like a Richard Cranium

These were tame compared to Kawasaki Mach III. You can't rev out a 2 stroke straight away like that! Handling? How can you tell. You barely went around a corner. Interesting video though. I always liked the look of these but knew they had poor ground clearance and were not that quick.
