Suzuki JR50 Piston Ring replacing

This is an easy job. In fact it applies to most small 2 stroke engines. It shouldn't take an hour. If you have a power valve on your 2 stroke engine, take some pictures to help you replace the little pieces. and you should replace clips holding the power valve metal rod.to the crankshaft

Novice mechanic here. Working on a jr50 I bought my son. Will roll start, and drive. Will kick start. But if you kick it and put it in gear it immediately kills it. Like metal on metal or something. Any clues or advice?

Not really but I would look at the clutch system, sounds like something is locked up that should slip. And look at more JR50 videos, youtube is great that way....

Do I have to break the glaze if it's a new cylinder

I have a jr 50 for my son, bought a rebuild kit and the piston ring seen too tight for the groves in the piston

Not sure what the ring gap is for a jr50 but it should move up and down! try a feeler gauge, I would Guess around 002-003

My kickstart won’t move the piston what should I do?

well, make sure it's in neutral..... If it wont kick over in neutral then you gotta get into the engine. You don't strike me as the type that does engine work

I cant get the piston to go into the cylinder. Any tips or tricks?

make sure it fits without the piston ring on. install the ring buy itself and check the ring gap. Not sure what it should be but 004 should be ok. make sure the ends of the ring are on both sides of the little pin in the piston ring gap that keeps the ring from rotating in the bore
