Suzuki LTR 450 Oil Change

This Video will show you everything you need to know about changing the oil on a Suzuki LTR 450.
The ATV requires 1600 ml of motor oil (which is just under 2 quarts).

Would amsoil 5-50 work, it doesn’t say wet clutch specific but I think all amsoil supports it.

Says 1300ml and 400ml on mine. Though it says when you dont change the oil filter, you can poor in 1200 ml, not 1300. Very nice video, going to implement the tipping of the bike backwards, taking the screws out that way, and not be under the bike screwing. Thanks again!

So how would you check to see if the crank case still has 400 ml over period of time of riding it?

I am pretty sure that if your dipstick is showing the correct amount of oil then your crank would also have the correct amount. Run the machine for a few minutes, turn it off, then let it sit a few more minutes. That should ensure you have oil everywhere it needs to be, then recheck the oil with the dipstick.

Do you screw the dipstick all the way in when checking the oil or do you just stick it down till it hits the threads??

To actually see the correct oil level on the dipstick it needs to be screwed in. But to save time I usually just stick it in until it hits the threads and assume that if it was screwed in the oil line on the dipstick would be a little higher than what it is showing.

Hey does the oil stay in the church side cover. On my own if I pour it in the clutch side the oil reservoir level goes up. I don’t get it

The oil inside the clutch side cover should all drain out through the drain plug/s on the bottom of the engine.

I just checked my oil dipstick today and the oil is overflowed out the filler hole :/ ! Any suggestions????

I have had the best luck with Maxima Racing Oils. I use the Maxima premium 4 petroleum 20w50.

If its a stock motor I would run it until the oil is black maybe every 15-20 hours. If you don't ride much I would still change it at least once per year though.

hey, why when it's cold the oil looks half way of the stick but when it runs for a lil bit it look full

because when u dont drive it the oil sinks to the bottom of the engine. When you have the engine on, the oil moves around inside the engine. Thats why the stick gets soaked when running, and only half when turned off for a few mins.

Mine has had a slight gas smell to it before but I think it was just from the oil lubricating the cylinder where the oil could pick up some carbon with trace amounts of fuel.

Also if you actually have gas in the oil your piston rings could be shot.

It would most likely still run but you would notice pressure/steam/oil coming out of the oil breather hose.

This is not how you change the oil. You are pulling the case bolts instead of the oil drain plug which is the plug with the Allen head on the bottom of the case. Otherwise, it's a good video.
