If you're not going to clean the actual carburetor itself on the inside and through all the holes with cleaner and welding tip cleaners and brushes.You're wasting your time in mind.
@JoelArseneaultYouTube5 ай бұрын
That all depends on why you are cleaning the carburetor. I often clean 4-5 carburetors a day, and unless they are gummed up with varnish (old gas) I usually don't poke anything through the jets. Carburetors are generally very clean on the inside, unless they have been sitting with old fuel... Most of the fuel system cleanings that I do are because of fine sediment, pet hair or water. These things clean out with a litte compressed air and always settle to the bottom of the float bowl. Water will sometimes leave behind oxidation or residu that requires a little poke with a torch cleaner. I used to clean a guys fuel system once a year, because his autistic son kept putting bubble mix in his lawnmower... He used to have one of those mowers that blew bubbles, and thought he was helping his dad. Quite unfortunate, and also quite amusing.

@@JoelArseneaultKZbin That's pitiful.You definitely are not a professional if you can't clean a carburetor completely regardless you are not a professional.You're a jackleg.

nice vid. The gz is a tough little cookie. I've owned a gz and a rebel and both are solid.

I usually always needed about 1/2-3/4 choke cranking the GZ even in the Mississippi heat, unless I had been driving it prior to cranking it again. How's your sparkplug? Have you a sparkplug gap tool?

+joel arseneault I used the Suzuki as my winter bike for about 2 years it was well suited for temperatures below freezing but tended to idled high in the summer.

What is the prime position for? Is it the same as on. I have only owned a dirt bike before. I just got a 99 gz250 that sat outside uncovered for 4 years. Thanks for the video!
@Leftycraig484 жыл бұрын
Even though those jets LOOK clean, probability is that they aren't. A can of aerosol carb cleaner is a sure way to make sure that they are totally clean. THEN you can blow them out with compressed air. Don't forget the fuel passages in the carburetor body. Same procedure. You may be surprised what comes out. A carb rebuild kit is inexpensive and reused gaskets and O-rings are an invitation to leaks. A tablespoon of Gumout or Seafoam per tankful is inexpensive insurance for a problem-free riding season.
@Leftycraig484 жыл бұрын
You certainly have the creds alright and I concur with oh, maybe 99.9% of your response. I'm not certain what kind of carb spray cleaner you've had experience with, but I disagree that carb spray is just brake cleaner. I've always used brake cleaner spray to clean out accumulated gunk from the guts of my fishing reels. One time, I ran out and all I had was a can of carb spray. HUGE bad mistake!! It dissolved any and all plastic parts in one of my vintage reels, and all it's good for now is spare (metal) parts. So my conclusion is that carb cleaner spray is far more aggressive than brake cleaner. Won't make THAT mistake again. Anyway, I've never experienced the residual "film" you described. Is g/f closing the fuel cock and running the carburetor dry before long term storage? And if I'm not mistaken isn't there a drain plug near the bottom of the float bowl somewhere? That might save you that semi-annual PITA carb job. Just sayin'.

Fabulous video. I feel prepared now. Quick question. My 800 occasionally fails to respond to throttle for a split second and then responds. Would that be cured if I clean carb?

I have a question I own a 2006 gz250 and I have my choke pulled at an angle leaning over towards me but not all the way and my bike when I start it up has to have the choke that way and I cant move it or itll die off and I constantly have to pull back on the throttle for the bike to warm up and while idling when I ride or before the ride it sounds like its idling pretty high for being in first gear and just sitting still ive tried turning down the rpms with the throttle screw but most of the time the bike will bog out or want to when I take off any ideas?

I just got a gz250. It has sat outside for 4 years. I just started going through it and I know I need to clean the carb. Is the choke operated by a lever or switch on the handlebar or does it come on automatically? Thanks

@@JoelArseneaultKZbin Yep, I believe I found the push pull knob on the carb. Manufacture date on my frame sticker says 9/98. Thanks again, Frank

Update. The idle screw knob is on the carb. The choke lever on left side of handle bar. I couldn't tell because the cable on mine was completely rusted in the sheath, so no movement. Thanks again.

This was shot in 2013 - 2014 on a Sony point and shoot camera and was one of the first videos I ever uploaded. It kinda sucks. However... I'm not sure how you came to this conclusion. I clearly removed all of the jets, showed they were clear, blew through them, mentioned checking the needle, removed the float valve, mentioned checking float height, as well as showing removal and installation. I normally don't do tutorial type videos, but this was actually quite thorough. Filming is crap, camera is crap, text instead of talking is crap but if you can't clean your carburetor with this video then maybe you shouldn't work on carburetors. I clean a lot of carburetors, and quite often, all you have to do is remove the bowl, and remove the debris. What details and missing information are you talking about ?
