I do love the sound of the tama clicking. It’s such a Japanese art form tho. So much effort to open the shed just to pass one thread, yet the method of advancing the pegs by moving the blocks is so clever……a mixture of meditative and ingenious

In most weaving, after opening the shed(the gap the weft will pass thru), and weaving a pick(one pass of the shuttle) its usual to use a beater of sorts(this can be the edge of the shuttle, a weaving “sword”, or just about anything that’s narrow and is easily manipulated. The beater is used to gently but firmly, press together the weft threads, helping them to become cloth, and keep a nice even edge to work against.
