I don't understand Suzuki. They have had some great bikes, over the years. They're still winning, on pavement. The GSXR line is absolutely legendary and top tier to this day. If not back into their product line, where does their money go? Like when they had the all-mighty Quadzilla, but no open mx bike chassis to pop that pumper into; One could say that they were ahead of the curve, in dropping out. Or, one could say that the 500 class suffered the final blow, when Suzuki dropped the ball. They're impact has been so dynamic... I just don't understand the roller coaster Suzuki-scape. They aren't still affiliated with Kawasaki, are they? If Kawi were to go down with that ship, it would be doubly bad. Too sad. Lol. That music.

They did that in the mid-2000's (suspect they will eventually drop out of the market). Would be awesome if they built a 2 stroke enduro bikes but the big 4 abandoned any development in that area 15 years ago). KTM and other EURO brands only ones keeping the 2 stroke around now and only ones actually with a full line up.

Thanks Tony ! Love these videos. It's been great to see the really early model Suzukis and Kawasakis. I had a 92 RM 125 and loved it. Hopefully Suzuki stays in the motocross business.

In 1989 I purchased a brand new RM 250 after only owning Yamaha YZ 250s and 490s after riding my RM it rode like a Cadillac compared to my YZs the RMs handling and suspension was great the only drawback was the lack of power compared to the other brands !

I had a 91 or 92 RM80, in like 96, 97 or so. And learned slow on a bike a lil too tall for me (being a smaller kid as a 10 year old).... Then had a 2002 Rm85. when i started to get faster.... that bike, and a track outside new philly Ohio snapped my femur practicing for race day.... And i quit riding for a while. I now have an Rmz250 just trail riding and climbing mild hills.... but the downfall of Suzuki breaks my heart. And this video hits different.. The music sounds so depressing... Such a spirited history, yet so much trash talk... kids these days dont know what brands built this sport... with the new huskys and KTMs and GASGAS The 80s and 90s moto is so nostalgic for me. My uncle rode a KX125 his buddy rode a YZ, and my old man a had a RM... I looked up to all of them, Especially the old man. And at one point where we lived there was a local track less than 3 minutes from our house. late 80s. before i was riding... But back when there was actually places to ride. And the bike shop was no more than 8 minutes away... no exaggeration. It was the 1980s, everyone rode dirtbikes.... The gear, the bikes, the magazines im pretty sure my dad put in my bed room strategically, when i was 6 or 7 years old... This sport has been a huge part of my life. And this channel has let me re-live some of those moments of the 80s and 90s.. so much fun.

As a long time owner of Suzuki off road bikes, I really appreciate your vid Tony 👍👍. However, Suzuki management, here and in Japan, have really squandered their off-road / MX Legacy. I wish they had the management they did back in the 60’s- early 80’s. It’s been along time since I owned / rode an RMX / DRZ. I can care less for their Gixxers and rode bikes, but would it not be cool if they had an RMX 200 and 300? Pipe dream I know. RIP Suzuki off road bikes.

Hey, a mistake is rare for you. But I did spot a 1978 RM250 where the 79 RM250 should be. Opps, my mistake. It is just the year (text) that says 1978 on the 79 model, (compare min 6:28/6:32 (78 and 78.5),---to min 6:51 (79, but states 78). I have no idea how hard or easy it is to edit stuff like this. Just wanted to let ya know.

I don't know, I think the switch to electric MX is closer than people think or wish. Suzuki is allways early in phasing out. They might be working on an electric bike, or maybe just not step in anymore. Also when electric, we will see a lot of different brands, not the tipical bike brands. Something like a panasonc mx bike, chinees stuff, etc

The 1985 RM 500F was the last model year for production. Tony is correct that Suzuki discontinued it in the US at the end of the 84 model year, but was exported to other markets in OZ, Canada, some Euro countries, and S. Africa I believe. US Suzuki dealers still had 1983 / 84 leftovers well into 1985. The new 85 model came with a front disc brake, goldish colored engine, and gold rims like the other F model RMs of that year. Due to the 500cc Quadracer to be released in 1987, Dirt Bike mag at the end of 1986 stated Suzuki was planning to reintroduce a water cooled RM 500 for the 87 model year. I always wondered where they got that info, or if they were just assuming they would release an MX version. Suzuki did have rare water cooled “works” RN 500’s in the Euro World GP’s in 1983 with the updated frames that were later used on the 84-85 RM 250’s.

Suzuki will most likely drop motorcycles or drop out of the market. With they would make a 'off-road 250' like a RM250x (they had a full bike line up long time ago).
