I rode one that had 900km on the clock and have to say that downshifts with that quickshifter were very smooth, slowing down before intersection, no throttle, it works great, wish i knew about the preloading at the time, shifting up felt a bit clunky unless i was giving it a lot of throttle. But all in all this is my next bike, was never a fan of suzuki but i absolutely love the 8S!

Tried lots of bikes including gsx8, hornet, trident, 850gs and cb 650r. They are all great bikes some more powerful than others hornet has more power at high revs, but in the finish I bought gsx8 in white as it fits me like a glove and i don’t regret my choice for 1 minute. If anyone is looking for a bike in this class I recommend you go and test ride one and you’ll see just how good it is.

I stand 5'-6.5" or 169cm without shoes and weight 170lbs. I bought the 8S in white/blue, and I am somewhat tip toed/on the balls of my feet, but am super comfortable on this bike. Another channel (TST Industries) had this bike in stock form up to 135mph on track. Said it wasn't very fun with the wind, but could probably do 140 in the right conditions. I've no interest in those speeds, but sharing info for those to whom it might matter. Torque feels huge down low, but very smooth in it's delivery. I really dig the looks and have zero regrets with the purchase. Side note, love the good pups in your vid too!

It really is a great bike.....but you would have to cover it in some form of protection ie ACF50 to keep the weather effects etc at bay.

I was impressed by the 8S. I did have an Duke 890R and its going to sound weird but I would take the 8s over that for every day use .

Great review of a fantastic motorcycle 👍 I really love my black beast. Didn’t think 80HP was much but by gosh, its the torque that just makes this perfect everywhere, everyday. I love the firmness of the suspension. So confidence inspiring. Could it be better? Yeah sure. No bike is perfect. I wish Suzuki fitted LED indicators as standard. i wish Suzuki fitted a USB port as standard. I wish Suzuki had an ambient temperature sensor fitted ( as on the V-Strom DE). Better tyres. Provision for a slip on muffler. Evotech make excellent products. The tail tidy & radiator guard to name 2 items. Powerbronze for a mini screen.

if you look at the specs the MT07 loses on HP and power alone but if you consider the Power-weight ratio they are the same. with that said the Suzuki offers more riding aids and electronics on the table. I'm stoked about what will be Yamaha's answer on the 2024 Mt07. competition is good

The 8s is a great bike and the sector will only get better as manufacturers produce real world usable bikes moving away from 500hp super bikes 😂 👍

Nice review. I really like this bike & after doing my homework, if you want like for like compared to the Hornet, the Suzuki is only about £350 more expensive now. That is if you want a bike with a 3 year warranty & a QS as both are extra on the Honda & it's just gone up in price too. The Honda's a very good bike but I literally wouldn't look twice at it because it's so bland & unappealihg visually imo. Definitely considering one of these for next spring. Hopefully they might do a black one with the blue subframe & wheels which would look great.

Yup I liked the Suzuki more TBH and I could live without the slightly more top end rush of the Honda but some folks prefer that to the more usable low down pull of the Suzuki which I liked a lot , both good bikes but I would go for the Suzuki .

Yep I bought the black with blue frame and wheels very recently and it looks awesome I think in that combo, gets attention and compliments. The engine feel, as quoted by someone else was 'like a mini v8' and that's exactly what the power feels like imo. Beautiful pulling power and is as steady as a train in the corners

@@petrol11 Congrats & yes, great colour scheme. Definitely my favourite so far for the 8S. I ended up buying an 8R as liked the idea of having a fairing.

I test rode this bike yesterday and I really didn't like the quick shifter at all. Every upshift felt very clunky / bumpy and the downshifts were not rev matching enough, there was a strong instant engine braking. Then today I had the ability to test ride a Triumph Street Triple 765 RS and man the quickshifter and blipper were butter smooth, no need to preload or anything it was a night and day difference.. It is a shame because other than the quick shifter (and maybe the slightly narrow feel between the legs) I really like the GSX-8S. Very solid bike all around. For me the quick shifter just killed it up to the point that I found myself using the clutch for shifting. Another thing, looking at the price: the GSX-8S starts at 9.000 Euros here in Germany, and to fix some of the looks I'd have to get a short license plate holder, LED-blinkers and a decor set. That puts me at around 10.000 Euros. For just 300 Euros more I can get the Triumph Street Triple 765 R, which is just a much nicer looking and premium feeling machine imo, much more powerful 3 cylinder engine with really nice sound, adjustable suspension, brembo brakes and a silky smooth quick shifter and blipper. The only downsides really are that it does not have a TFT display and it will be more thirsty. Triumph gives 4 years of warranty, and the service intervals are 16k km.

Thanks for the input. In the UK the price difference is about £1500. I am a fan of the 765 and have not yet ridden the new one. I did demo one several years ago, great bike, but I just preferred the low down torque from the KTM890R Duke. I think it will boil down to whether you want to go and hunt the revs and power higher top the rev range or go for the low down torque of the 8s. One thing I absolutely hate about the Triumph is that stupid TFT display which they insist on keeping. That basically is why I didn't get the 765 because of that stupid screen , hated it, hated it hated it. However it is a lovely sounding machine and if you were into your track days etc then that would be the bike to go for. For me I like the usability of the twin cylinders. Choices choices choices. Ride safe.

Nice review. Own a black one. HP is not the full story. 78Nm at 6,800rpm and 80% from 4,000 rpm. In my view the bike feels bigger and faster and handles better than it should based on the spec sheet in the real world. Not a track beast. I had a 2020 Street Triple and the 8S is a quick at sensible speeds. And yes you can easily scratch the grey bits of plastic. Also test rode the Hornet and GSX S750 with 114bhp. Not as snappy around town but quicker if you open and wait a moment or two till it screams.

The 3,750 service intervals apply to the US. In Europe, (including UK), service intervals are 7,500. This is standard practice for many Suzuki's though I'm not sure why. Maybe oil quality?

Only had my 8S for a short time (350 mi.) but very happy with it so far. I actually kind of favored the Hornet but since they don't sell those is in the US the 8S was my P-twin of choice and it sounds like it may have been a better choice anyway. The dealer I purchased my bike from had all the colors (23 and 24 models) and I have to say it was hard choosing between any of them but the 23 models were an extra $1K off and the white was very slightly my favorite anyway so that's what I ended up with. Interesting the US models come standard with the much better looking LED turn indicators. Thanks for the tip on preloading the QS! My last fill up I went 185 mi. on 3.095 US gallons (59.77 mpg) so looks like it's going to be good on gas consumption too.

Definitely looks good, so does the thousand though and I’d have one of those any day of the week and twice on Sunday over this. I’d rather have the old 750 too especially with the updated looks but I’m a 4cyl guy

If you get a chance take one out . Yup I was the 4cyl guy , gsxr1000’s , Fireblades etc . All great but this day and age only really good for the track day thing if we are being honest . 200hp on the road is crazy …. Flip I must be getting old ! 😂

Ok, so I know that this engine is in the V-Strom we're getting this year in the U.S., and it makes sense to use it on other styles of motorcycles. That's what they all do.... BUT.... the 800cc and 900cc classes have been tried by Kawasaki and they both failed. The 650m class is the dominator in sales. You can't tell that to anyone at Suzuki - hell, they're still making 750cc flops!! Suzuki is always about 6 years behind the times and that's why their sales suck. They don't have an original thought in the whole company. The trend is DOWNSIZING! Honda has had an inline 4, 400cc in Europe for, I don't know.... decades??!!. Maybe if we're lucky in a few years we might get that! The 450cc-550cc will be coming back, and you heard it here first. Even Royal Enfield are starting to water cool their engines. Something they should have done before they switched over to fuel injection, IMO. But their newer models are being bumped to the 450cc class. Maybe they'll even figure out how to drop some weight while they're at it?!
