Now I'm sure you're my neighbor, on Saturday it rained just like that here in Sintra, HA!HA!

Lol, that's funny. You know how washing your car is basically like doing a rain dance?... I'm pretty sure working underneath it does the same thing.

I was under the LJ on the weekend saying exactly the same thing about fuel lines and other crusty bits which I'm starting to attack. There's also still a nasty rusty looking steel block a previous owner used for their body lift ..rather than a proper body mount. I was like " fmd where do i start , the bits that jusy look shit or the bits that might kill me 😂"

Okay, gotta prioritize. So, first do the ones that look like shit and will kill u (2 birds, 1 stone), then just the ones that will kill u, then the ones that look like shit lol. I always have to think about what I can do and have back together to move mine the same day. Like I need to attack the rust underneath, which means lowering the tank again, sanding/wire wheeling the rust, spraying rust reformer, then after that dries spraying undercoating, but today I didn't have enough time so I didn't even start. If yours is in a spot where u can take it apart and leave it apart that's an advantage, but then again it takes away the urgency so it could sit like that for a while lol.

@@FixLife119 it's very drivable as I have the mechanics going well and I got a new suspension kit installed so it's generally safe and fun to get around with which is part of my own delays . I guess I can pull apart and leave partly disassembled over weeks but I'm paranoid I'll get too far in and then get busy with my day job. Original plan was send for body work and bring home frame to refurb but now I'm just gonna start on undercarriage now - will order a new body mount kit and also start treating the little spots of bubble rust on some panels before it gets worse. That storm looks like the summer storms we get in Sydney , fast and brutal .

22:28 If you ever find a telescopic wheel nut tool instead of the X one you use now, BUY IT! My 80 y/o mother could change a wheel using the telescopic one but failed miserably with the X model. - Telescopic’s is the shit!

I've never even heard of that before. I'll have to look it up. I can't believe these X bars (we call em a "4-way") are as strong as they are with the crappy little tack welds they use. I mean I've jumped on them before and never broken one.

24:55 Hey, you put a rag over the brake caliper … you’re not a fan of ABS, are you!?? 😂
@FixLife119

Actually no, not particularly. Shitty GM ABS caused the only accident I had in over 20 years at my last job. My coworker started slowing down fast because motorcycle cops pulled into the middle of the intersection with a green light. I had 3x the stopping distance I needed and was braking in light rain over one of those drain grates. My GMC Savana van activated the ABS and it wouldn't stop. I even let completely off and pushed again and ran right into the back of him. Right in front of several cops, they just waved us through the intersection and took off. I was like wtf were they even doing? I thought it was a funeral procession but turns out it was a motorcade for Mike Pence (Trumps VP). Talked to our fleet mechanic and he was telling me about how bad GM's ABS is. I did have it engage a few other times where I was braking over a bumpy surface but never any danger of wrecking.

6:19 Rusty screws/nuts/joints - always spray’em with WD40 or similar 24 hours before disassembly. Please.
@FixLife119
@FixLife119 6 ай бұрын
I got some PB Blaster for that. Got the ole WD too, just never remember to do it cuz we don't usually have rusty stuff to deal with here. Seems like when the chemicals don't work, heat usually does. Or in my case you just accidentally tighten it first, then loosen it lol.

29:29 The loose stud … Get a new one as it is “splined” to the drum or tap weld it to the drum.

8:46 Question about your phone’s overheating … what happens if you charge them while recording, more or less overheating?
@FixLife119
@FixLife119 6 ай бұрын
In the winter I always had the original phone charging while I recorded. Just used my Milwaukee inverter on a 5AH battery and a Type C to Type C cable. When they started overheating as it got hot out I stopped charging them while I recorded. I want to say they will overheat more while charging but haven't done much testing to verify that.

@@numbskullskills Right lol. Yeah she's my roommate. I was married young (21), then she cheated on me with my best friend, dated in my 20's and a little in my 30's, now I don't even try. Most women wouldn't be happy spending so much time tinkering on a tiny 4x4, but I don't gotta worry about any of that lol.

18:58 I know you’re like a Pakistani “mechanic” from India or Vietnam who always work on the ground because none of you understands the benefit of a workbench/sturdy table with a good vice … But please put the car of 4 tall jack stands when doing the restoration of the underbody/chassis, please!

Please replace the bad fuel line with copper line or a stainless steel braided one, not rubber. Yes, I know my comment is 1-3 days too late… F-me, right? 😂
