Suzuki Savage 650: Carburetor Rebuild (Part 2) and First Start

I am surprised that the bike ran after rebuilding the carburetor lmao. I was quite sure there was another problem to it (well I guess the dead battery played a part). Anyway, at least the biggest problem is out of the way, now to tackle the other stuff (oil leak, gas tank paint, pedal placement, etc.).

Yes, that's the starter you referred to. Looking good, man! Your voltage was definitely low. Charge the battery, and then retry. If the battery loses charge after a couple of days, it's no good. If the battery isn't too old, then you need to investigate the charging system.

Awesome video I was wondering the bracket for your controls to where you can use other footrests other then the stock ones where did you get those? I have a 06 suzuki s40 boulevard.

Eric Weber so I tried starting it after a new battery and found that it could be the charging system. I replaced the stator and regulator rectifier and I’m still having issues starting it. It’s not turning over anymore and hasn’t started since the last video hahaha. I’m trying to look at all the wires to see what it could be, but I’m thinking it could have to do with the starter. I looked up videos to determine if my stator and RR were bad, and it seemed like it was so I replaced it. But now I just need to figure out how to test the starter...

morten arnold I’m only 5’7” and I can plant my feet very comfortably. Definitely worth looking into if you’re looking to upgrade from a Honda Rebel 250 like I did

Hmm you might feel that the bike is a bit small for you. If you’re looking for a starter bike, then it’s probably worth looking into since it’s not too heavy. There are also aftermarket solutions to push the pedals further out. But nothing beats the experience of test riding and trying it out for yourself 👍🏽
