It's a great option, I had one for 3 months, Corona edition from 2000, they are not restricted in the engine but are 25 kw in motorcycle papers, I rode with insurance, it was actually less expensive than my old zzr 250. It curves beautiful, A2 guys will think it's more than enough power. It's virtually dead on low revs, you can drive it slow but it always ask for to kick in that ram air. Brakes need good cleaning and maintenance Unfortunately I crashed and totaled the bike, a cager didn't stop at a stop sign ...

Legally you can't restrict the SRAD for the A2 because of the power:weight ratio. You can get it insured but they won't pay out in event of a claim.

That SRAD obviously has more than the 47bhp you're allowed on the A2 licence. The guy who owns it is basically riding it without a licence or insurance, so if he ever had an accident, he would be in a world of hurt...

having said that, if you have an accident, you can say to your insurance company that you want to assess the damage first, and then slip the restrictor back in.

+UKGB indeed and thats true until you move upto a big bike and get over confident i dragged one of my mates r6's out a bush yesterday hes a fantastic rider and has loads of track experience he knew the road well but clearly over shot it slightly, fully conscious and no injuries he probably scrubbed the majority of the speed off but it happens to the best of us

Hiya mate I'm thinking of getting one of these once I've done my full....A, bike licence whats the seat height and how tall are you if you don't mind me asking I only ask because I've still yet to sit on one myself and I'm 5ft 7in tall with 31 inseam leg and want to know if I'd be OK to ride this and put my foot on the ground when at a stop sign ect, I'm from Derby east Midlands UK mare and those bikes are just so nice to look at I think maybe the best ever bike in my mind anyway absolutely love them and I mean the srad version not the Ks version nor the latest if I get one I want the srad only 1998-2000 model. All the best and ride safe don't ride to die but always dress for the slide y friend.

At the crank, over 94bhp. Because "marketing", Suzuki at the time therefore claimed the bike had 105-110bhp. If one where to dyno the bike, you'd probably get 90/94bhp at the rear. DVLA doesn't specify if A2 criteria refers to power at the crank or rear. However, they do reference "peak" power, what this means is open for legal speculation, but the cavemen at the DVLA would probably claim it means at the crank out of the factory. Then you have to find 47bhp restrictors for it (that don't exist), or invent your own (or use a 33bhp era one). It's a grey area legal minefield, easier to buy a detuned 600 (bandit etc)/650 and restrict how you see fit.

So if you have a completely unrestricted license and can drive whatever; like a 1600 softtail Heritage. Are the 600SRAD good bikes? I like racing bikes but I also love Harley Davidson (but they are unfortunately too expensive for me at this moment). RAM air? This bike causes so many problems in the realm of law... For those that don't know and want to know: -Any GSXR 600 SRAD made from 1998 on wards are not able to be restricted to 47bhp as they make 100bhp+ -Up to 1997 they made about 93bhp. The law requires that the bike has its BHP output restricted to 47bhp, providing the *original* output is not more than 94bhp. Example: I ride a 2003 GSX600F with the original output being about 80bhp. I have had it restricted to 47bhp. On the other hand I would not be able to ride a Yamaha R6 as they make around 130bhp. Besides, why would you want a restricted SRAD? There are plenty of reviews complaining a restricted SRAD runs like dog shit. It aint worth lying to your insurers. All it takes is one Copper who knows his bikes to stop you and that's it, you lose your bike and your license. And we all know insurers are slimy bastards, they will try at anything to avoid paying out to you if you ever make a claim. All it takes is one worker to look at your quote and figure out ''Huh, you said you have an A2 license, but I know the 2000 SRAD makes 100+bhp''.

bailey 686 that website doesn’t have half the bikes your actually allowed to ride. This bikes a grey area because Suzuki Claimed 100bhp but MCN put one on a Dyno and it make 92bhp. So it’s A2 legal in the sense it makes 92bhp these days but it’s not A2 legal because when it was made it had over 94bhp. I think if you can prove that it makes less than 94bhp then you can ride it but I’m not 100% sure

Considering getting a gsxr600 srad for an a2 bike myself, i know factory it makes too much bhp, but if you put it on a dyno youll probably find they make about 94 these days. Anyway, im thinking about insuring one third party fire and theft, so if i do get caught out on my insurance without the restrictor, its not too much of a loss. Did you have any problem insuring yours? Did they ask any questions on what bhp the bike was?

UKGB i havent got one its my friends, and although i agree the law and insurance companies go by factory specifications pre warning if you do get caught they can take your licences and you would have to wait until you are 24 for a full a license

It's pointless getting this on an a2 license, just ride an unrestricted a2 bike until you take your full test after 2 years, not worth the hassle of no insurance and losing your license if you get caught. Gives you a better reason to get your full license and motivation anyway

so i just stumbled across this video, i own a 600 SRAD on my A2, having it restricted, makes it sluggish, it wont rev like it should, and you cant rev it past about 10k, at 10k it just stops. no more power pure flat spot. also when it comes to the law, they are no longer compliant with the new restricted laws, the only restriction kit available is a 33 bhp restriction, the new laws say that you can no longer restrict a bike too more than half its original power, if a 47bhp or 35kw was available then it would be ok, but they do not exist unfortunately

+Reece Cosgrove i always do my best to reply, yeah you notice with carburettor restrictors it does exactly that..You seem to loose puff at abut 100 where as the throttle restrictors only allow you to go to about 20% throttle which id assume is reducing acceleration

Yeah. Had my eyes on a real beauty last year. tank cover and plastics water dipped (blue with playing cards, bikini girls and what not), new digital meter, undertail exhaust, (insert bunch of other mods) and a mask with blinkers integrated into the eyes. some 30-40k km and only for 4,5k. too bad it got sold before i could get rid of the old girl. Would've had to raise 3,5k more anyway lol.
